Messina. It will be the task of the mayor of Messina Federico Basile, tomorrow, Thursday 21st, at 18.30 pm, press the switch on the new fountain in Piazza della Repubblica which completes the Christmas display in another beating heart of the city. The artistic fountain designed to welcome tourists and passers-by with its visual, musical shows, with water and lights dancing to the notes of the most beautiful internationally renowned songs, is destined to create entertainment in the Central Station area. The team of Councilors of the Basile Council and the General Director will take part in the lighting Except Puccio, the president of AMAM SpA Loredana Bonasera together with the members, the corporate bodies and the General Director of the company, who in synergy have chosen on the occasion of the Christmas holidays to donate to the city an artistic fountain that will remain permanent for the entire year.

"We wanted to make another area of ​​our city more evocative and give citizens and visitors an extra emotion – declares the mayor Basile -. The fountain will give a touch of elegance and magic to the charm of Messina, adding to the engaging and evocative Christmas atmosphere. A public work, a concrete example of active policy for the benefit of the territory and the community for an increasingly beautiful Messina that enhances its attractiveness".

The restyling of the fountain with its choreographies of water and lights was entrusted to Forms of Water Venice Fountains, the company from Cavallino Treporti (VE) which took care of the MEP design and the programming of the choreography to offer a beautiful but also sustainable work, in order to increase the experiential nature of the urban area.

"Our Administration - goes on Basile - in fact, he chose the creation of the artistic fountain keeping in mind the path already undertaken of green policies, aimed at eco-sustainability and the development of attention towards nature and the landscape in its various declinations. This is demonstrated by the new face that the public green areas, the city avenues, the squares and the streets, the pedestrian area, the means of public transport, and no less the public lighting in compliance with the standards of energy efficiency have now acquired. , thanks to the numerous projects and renovation and redevelopment works carried out, and under construction, the result of synergistic teamwork between Councilors and municipal subsidiaries respectively for the sectors of competence". “Finally, I invite my fellow citizens to respect this and all places in the city, avoiding making gestures of incivility. We must all be custodians of every common good which, as Messina citizens, makes us proud and honors us", concludes the Mayor.

“We supported the restyling of the fountain – highlights the president Good evening - in line with the project development already undertaken in the entire planning of our multi-year interventions, i.e. with an eco-sustainable perspective and maximum protection of the water resource in the management of all the services entrusted to AMAM. In addition to being a highly emotional work, - explains the President of AMAM - this fountain presents itself as a technological model of sustainability: a filtration and recirculation system guarantees the continuous reuse of water, which is automatically replenished only when necessary; a panel has been installed for the automatic chlorination and acidification of the water, to always keep it clean and free of limescale; finally, thanks to the anemometer, in case of bad weather or strong winds, the water features will lower proportionally until they are turned off, so as to always guarantee the full efficiency of the system. Therefore, the Fountain in Piazza della Repubblica is proposed as a symbol of welcome in our city, located in front of the railway station, a few steps from Piazza Cairoli, the commercial and aggregation center par excellence of Messina, ready to give beauty and emotions to citizens to tourists and travelers in transit in the city of the Strait. Although it will be inaugurated as part of the demonstrations and events related to Christmas 2023 – concludes the Good evening - it can be enjoyed all year round. During the holidays the dancing effect of the fountain will be staged every day, from 18pm to 21pm, every hour with a selection of Christmas musical themes. After the holidays, we will reprogram it with new music and a new rotation of times to offer a permanent show, which will make the square area a virtual stage, in which we can also think of real entertainment shows".
