The “Oltre” theater and music festival continues at the Sanclemente Theater in Granze di Camin, in Padua
The 2023 edition of the theater and music festival continues "Beyond", promoted and organized by TOP-Theatres Off Padua at the Sanclemente Theater in the heart of the city's industrial area. The exhibition, which sees the contribution of the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Padua, is part of the project this year “Zona3” by TOP, supported by the call for urban regeneration promoted by the Veneto Region (regional law no. 17/2019). The objective is to strengthen the cultural proposal of the neighborhood and the dialogue with the community of Camin and Granze, which thus becomes a "revitalized" space with a view to wellbeing for the community, training and education in the enjoyment of art. For this reason it saw a first moment of meeting and active promotion with citizens, to directly involve future spectators of the event.
The common denominator of the shows proposed is the relationship between man and nature, between a sense of disorientation and the desire for research, knowledge and travel, expressed with different artistic languages.
After the first two appointments, the billboard offers four more shows in the coming weekends, one for adults on Saturday evening at 21pm and one for children and teenagers aged 6 to 13 together with their families on Sunday afternoon at 16pm. At the end of each event there is a meeting between the public and actors, directors and technicians. The invitation is to look "beyond" the productive destination of the area, putting urban regeneration at the center as an action that starts from the same valorisation of the former church of San Clemente, once the social heart of the neighborhood and now the Sanclemente Theatre, home of the theater company and location of the shows. Thus "Oltre" will also shine a spotlight on the relationship between individuals and communities, between city and suburbs, reweaving relationships and connections.
Saturday December 2 Still Alive by and with the young Roman actress Caterina Marino is scheduled, on stage with the videomaker Lorenzo Bruno. A theatrical show that puts the artist's body and voice at the center and, starting from a personal malaise, investigates a more general human ailment with a light and self-deprecating touch. The performance is immediately conceived with a direct relationship with the audience, balanced between confessions and streams of consciousness, questions and involvement of the spectators to remind those watching how, for better or for worse, none of us are alone. Still Alive thus becomes an opportunity to talk about the first and original function of the theatre, mirror and tool for sharing and overcoming the fatigue of existing. The show won the special mention of the 2021 Scenario Award and was among the finalists of the 2023 In-box Award.
Sunday December 3 appointment instead with The Drop and the Carrot, which was born from two children's literature texts dedicated to the theme of climate change. It is the story of a drop of oil and an ice core who, by telling who they are and comparing themselves, come to question the causes that are jeopardizing their very existence and that of the planet. Through the theatrical game, the tender comedy of the characters and the empathy that the spectator develops towards them, historical-scientific contents are proposed and reflection on the necessary change in man's behavior towards nature is suggested.
The series then closes with the last two shows: Saturday December 16, Passengers. Musical notebook of an extraordinary journey, concert by and with Corrado Corradi, Rachele Colombo and Roberto Tombesi who presents the new CD of the same name, and Sunday December 17 Mister Cartoon with the musicians Paolo Valentini and Flavio Costa, who will perform live soundtracks of cartoons from different eras.
