Modena, the story of Saman Abbas at the women's house

“Saman. Life and death of an Italian girl” is the title of the book that tells the story of Saman Abbas and which will be presented on Monday 20 November, at 17.30 pm, at Modena women's house (in strada Vaciglio nord 6) as part of the program of events for the International Day against violence on women.

Saman Abbas was 18 years old when he disappeared in the night between April 30th and May 2021st XNUMX in the countryside of Novellara. His body was found, after very long searches, only on November 18, 2022, a few meters from his home. Saman was from a Pakistani family but she felt like an Italian girl, “Italiangirl”, as he called himself on Instagram. Forced into a forced marriage in Pakistan, she had decided to rebel. The trial for her femicide is currently underway in which i parents, an uncle and two cousins ​​of Saman.

The book (published by Compagnia editorial Aliberti, 2023) was written by Jacopo della Porta and Elisa Pederzoli, two journalists who lived "on the field" the news, the research and the investigations up to the tragic final confirmation, and draws the surprising portrait of a courageous teenager and “indomitable” (as the judges wrote) in his choice of freedom.

The presentation is introduced by the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Modena Andrea Bortolamasi; Rosanna Bartolini and Vittorina Maestroni from the Casa delle donne intervene.

The event, organized by the Women's House and the Municipality of Modena, is part of the calendar promoted by the Municipality of Modena and the municipal table of associations for equal opportunities and non-discrimination.
