La Spezia, partisans Giovanni Pagani and Ezio Grandis remembered

The municipal administration, with the presence of councilor Giulio Guerri representing mayor Peracchini, participated, in the Chiappa district, in the ceremony dedicated to the memory of Giovanni Pagani (Gold Medal for Military Valor) and Ezio Grandis, partisans of the Column “Justice and Freedom”. Pagani and Grandis were captured by the Nazis in the Zignago area during the roundup in January 1945 and, after being subjected to torture at the XXI Infantry barracks, on 3 February 45 they were shot by the Black Brigades near the intersection between via Genova and via Arzelà, near their families' homes.
