La Spezia, National Tree Day: the initiative "A tree for every new born" has been created.

On the occasion of National Tree Day, the municipal administration wanted celebrate all the children born in 2022 with the initiative: "A tree for every new born" which involves planting a new tree for every child born.
The event was held this morning at the Regional Media Library “S. Fregoso", during which each child was given a parchment as a "certificate of godparenting" of the plants and essences dedicated to each child.
“Every new life must be a moment of great celebration for the entire Community – declares the Mayor of La Spezia Pierluigi Peracchini – and we believe that the best way to pay homage to this important event and to contribute to the protection of the environment with a concrete gesture, namely with the planting of 630 new trees that will grow together with our children. Each family will be informed which tree they have been assigned and the location in which it was planted so that its developments can be followed over time. A gesture that also aims to raise awareness of the respect and care we must have towards our territory and the importance of preserving the delicate balance of our ecosystem."
“This initiative is part of the desire to promote the municipal tree heritage and the development of urban greenery - declares the Councilor for the Environment Kristopher Casati - A simple gesture but with a great impact, which will bring benefits to the environment and people. A small concrete action, which will also contribute to the protection of delicate natural balances.”
The Municipality of La Spezia will plant a tree symbolically dedicated to every new born in 2022 for a total of 630 trees which represent the number of births during 2022; a gesture with a strong symbolic value which also becomes a concrete contribution to the improvement of air quality, the extension of public green areas and a greater quality of the urban environment as well as creating a direct link with the nature that surrounds us.
Dedicating a tree to each new life is a concrete action that has a profound and double meaning: on the one hand it is a tribute toarrival of a child which is a joy for the whole community and on the other hand represents the awareness that only through concrete gestures such as tprotection of the environment it will leave a better future for the new generations.
Those who were unable to participate in the event will be able to collect the parchment by presenting themselves at the Secretariat of the Department of the Environment located on the 2nd floor of the Town Hall in Piazza Europa, 1.
