Countdown to the opening of Prose Season 2023-24 at the Teatro Civico della Spezia. Saturday 11 November at 20.45 (repeat on Sunday 12th at 17.30pm) will be on stage "The locandiera”, a production by Teatro Stabile dell'Umbria starring Sonia Bergamasco, directed by Antonio Latella.
An actress loved by film, television and theater audiences, Bergamasco has already worked with Latella on Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?, a show that earned her the 2022 Ubu Award as best actress of the year.
Bergamasco he will then meet the public at PIN in the context of FOYER review Sunday 12 November at 11.30, together with the artistic director of the Civic Theatre Alessandro Maggi.
Written in 1751 and performed for the first time in 1753 at the Teatro Sant'Angelo in Venice, La locandiera is still the best-known and most performed text by Carlo Goldoni in the world.
The protagonist of the comedy is Mirandolina, who manages the inn inherited from her father together with the faithful waiter Fabrizio, to whom she is linked by a promise of marriage made to her parent before he died. Among the most frequent customers of the inn, two men both in love with her mistress: the Count of Albafiorita, who woos her by spending large amounts of money, and the penniless Marquis of Forlipopoli who tries to win her over by leveraging the noble title of she.

A classic of the theatrical tradition is revisited by Antonio Latella, master of the contemporary scene who emphasizes the extraordinary relevance of the first Italian text with a female protagonist.
