The second edition of the theater review “L'isola che c'è” is starting at the Teatro Comunale di Malfa (Isola di Salina).

Will “The girl from the plateau” (Enna Harp Company) by Elisa Di Dio to open Friday 13 October at 10.30 pm the second edition of the theater review “L'Isola che c'è”, with the artistic direction of Gigi Spedale (President of the Latitudini Network) and scheduled at the multifunctional municipal auditorium of Malfa (Salina island).

This inaugural show, which sees Adriana Lunardo and Lorenzo Di Dio on stage with music performed live by Davide Campisi, is dedicated to the children of the Istituto Comprensivo delle Eolie of Malfa, in collaboration with the Arpa di Calascibetta company and with the association local Fabbrica 11 directed by Paola Pintacuda and is included in the Reading Pact, promoted by the Municipality of Malfa.

Presentation:

Lila and Jacopo, two high school students, together with some classes from their school, on an unnaturally sultry day at the end of October, take part in an excursion to Lake Pergusa and Cozzo Matrice, lands of the myth of Kore and Demeter. They are accompanied by their teacher and an archaeologist. The visit was strongly supported by the school's elderly principal, Teodoro Siciliano. On site the two boys meet a crew led by Gaia, a German director who is making a documentary film. Gaia involves Lila and Jacopo in the filming. This is how an adventure begins for the two, between the dreamlike and the real, which plunges them into myth and its deepest meanings. Lila revisits, in the light of the ancient story told by Demeter, her tormented relationship with her mother, with herself and her fragility. Jacopo also reflects on himself. Another theme emerges forcefully, that of the compromised relationship between man and nature. The daydream experienced on the mythical hill will untie existential knots and open new perspectives in the lives of the two protagonists

At 21: 00 Eurydice (Enna Harp Company) will be staged, dramaturgy by Elisa Di Dio and Filippa Ilardo with Elisa Di Dio and Davide Campisi as protagonists.

Presentation: One of the most famous and loved stories of Greek mythology is proposed in a new guise by the Compagnia dell'Arpa di Enna which tells the passionate and dark love between the nymph Eurydice and the poet Orpheus in a new contemporary language, with music, live singing and stage movements.

On the shore of an Acheron inhabited by the shadow, in a perspective where time is mobile and memory is eroded, Eurydice turns to Orpheus who weaves song plots to attempt the ways of the impossible. The poet embodies the desperation of those who remain on earth, torn by the absence of the body and the vital manifestations of those they loved.

Eurydice reasons on death as a cure for the anxiety and worries of life.
Play, Eurydice, with her body that falls apart and pulverizes and becomes a space of unexpected metamorphoses. Dream, Eurysays the song of the beloved, or perhaps it is just the echo of the same.
Speak, Eurydice, with Persephone who tells her about her past life, and, as a goddess in love, urges the memory of love in the new inhabitant of her kingdom.
And when the word Love is pronounced, it becomes flesh, breath and song.
With his song, Orpheus moves the inhabitants of the Underworld and travels those lands in search of his woman. Life and death seem to touch each other, divided by an invisible membrane that blurs the boundaries between the two dimensions.
Thus even temporal planes crack, past and present fall into each other.

The event, which consists of a total of six shows, is organized by Rete Latitudini with the support of the Sicilian Region - Tourism and Entertainment Department, the Municipality of Malfa and the Fabbrica 11 Association of Malfa.

“After the success of the first 2022 edition, “L'Isola che c'è” returns, the new theater season directed by Gigi Spedale, represents a renewed opportunity for cultural enrichment of the island community of Malfa even in the winter period. For the second consecutive year, the Malfa Community will be able to benefit from a rich programme, with important national companies, also known and appreciated internationally. This exhibition is an opportunity to further enhance the Municipal Auditorium, recently renovated and upgraded in terms of technical equipment. Thanks to the improvements made, it will be possible to offer citizens even complex installations, such as those of the Circuito della Rete Latitudini, which is entrusted to the municipal multifunctional centre.", declares Clara Rametta, Mayor of Malfa

Gigi Spedale adds: “We have found in the Malfa Community the ideal places to start valuable cultural and artistic activities, from theater to cinema, through music and dance. The sensitivity of the residents and the foresight of the local administrators make it possible today to renew this stimulating adventure: to create on a smaller island a regular winter theater season of a level and quality at least equal to those of metropolitan theatres. Despite the frequent logistical difficulties and sea connections and logistics costs, Malfa and its cultural side represent the ideal setting for the shows of the companies of our Latitude Network.”

Meanwhile, today in Calascibetta (Enna) “Sulla Vetta” kicks off, a new season by Latitudini with the show “L'ammazzatore” by Rosario Palazzolo at the Teatro Comunale Contoli – Di Dio scheduled at 20.30pm. On stage Palazzolo himself with Salvatore Nocera, protagonists of a show, ironic, light and, at the same time, dramatic, as only the great authors of the scene can do.
