The Liguria Region celebrates the National Biodiversity Day through the “Promobiodiversity” project

“The Liguria Region celebrates today, Monday 20 May, the National Day of Biodiversity of Agricultural and Food Interest, valorising all the most important components starting from plant, animal or microbial resources that could be at risk of extinction to protect agricultural ecosystems and the environment”. These are the words of the interim president of the Liguria Region, with delegation to Agriculture and Territorial Marketing, for the conference entitled "Research, promotion and valorisation of Ligurian agrobiodiversity” which took place today in the Sala Colombo of the Liguria Region.

The event saw the participation of several schools from the Liguria Region and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (Masaf). At the center of the debate are the support actions of the Rural Development Program and the project “PromobiodiversityLiguria”, approved by Masaf, who I am with various initiatives to be carried out in schools were financed and in 'within the Food Communities with the aim of raising awareness of the agrobiodiversity of the area.

“Liguria Region – continues the president Interim – as well as through specific measures activated within the Rural Development Program (including the 21 projects financed for approximately 1,7 million euros of measure 10.2) it also activated special projects within the scope of specific tenders from the Ministry of Agriculture, food sovereignty and forests. Today's event directly involves, as protagonists, the students of four Ligurian high schools who have accepted the invitation of the regional technicians to work together, to rediscover forgotten agricultural varieties to be enhanced and protected from the risk of extinction. The occasion has an inestimable intrinsic value precisely because it is a vehicle and representation of the awareness underlying the sustainability of human behavior. It is a laboratory in which knowledge is compared, to share the state of the art and projects, to mark a path that will also see young people as protagonists in the coming years. I would therefore like to thank, in addition to the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests Vincenzo Montalbano, who managed to find some time to dedicate to us despite being busy with another event, and our Offices, all the teachers and students involved from the Lanfranconi High School in Genoa, the Ruffini Agricultural Institutes in Imperia, Parentucelli Arzelà in Sarzana (La Spezia) and Gianardi Galilei Aicardi in Albenga (Savona)”.La Regione Liguria celebra la giornata nazionale della Biodiversità attraverso il progetto "Promobiodiversità"
