The “new” cinema of Fondazione Prada – programming for March 2023
The “new” cinema of Fondazione Prada – programming for March 2023.
Cinema is a necessary reality of intellectual training and a laboratory of creativity.
“The Fondazione Prada Cinema affirms the importance of the collective experience of screening a film and the essential role of the theater in the cultural and social fabric of the city, connecting it to a global dimension thanks to the contributions of international filmmakers and institutions” this is the consideration of the Prada Foundation, which chooses to invest in ambitious programming.
The direction taken by the Milanese cultural hub is confirmed by Paolo Moretti, curator of the 2023 cycle of projections, which will be proposed in the room inaugurated in May 2018 inside the cultural citadel of Miuccia Prada's fashion house.
The "new" Cinema of the Foundation has always aimed to highlight, also through the seventh art, the approach to experimentation of visual arts in the Vigentino district.
Since February 2023, the Foundation's cinema has increased the number of screenings (twelve each week).
On a monthly basis, the calendar will be divided into ten easily identifiable programming lines: LG, Subjective, Classics, Studio, Supernova, Nocturna, Queerelle, Sonic, Selezione and Playtime.
The cinema is open from Friday to Sunday, with an entrance fee of 6 euros.
March schedule:
“Soggiva” investigates the complete work of an author and, in March, is dedicated to the work of the director of A Chiara (2021), Jonas Carpignano, protagonist of a meeting with the public.
“Nocturna” investigates the universe of genre cinema. Special guest of the March 11th event will be the director Lamberto Bava.
“Queerelle”, in collaboration with the MiX International Festival of LGBTQ+ Cinema and Queer Culture Milano, offers a focus on contemporary queer cinema every month. In March the film Cassandro, The Exotico is screened! (2018) by Marie Losier.
“Selection”, on the other hand, offers unmissable films in current cinematography such as EO (2022) by Jerzy Skolimowski, nominated for an Oscar as Best International Film, The Empress's Corset (2022) by Marie Kreutzer, Close (2023) by Lukas Dhont, nominated for an Oscar for Best International Film, Godland (2022) by Hlynur Pálmason, Aftersun (2022) by Charlotte Wells and One Beautiful Morning (2022) by Mia Hansen-Løve.
