The men's and women's World Surf Casting Championship stops in Messina.

Twenty-two nations represented by 22 men's and 11 women's teams for a total of 160 athletes will be welcomed in Messina in the inaugural ceremony in Piazza Duomo.
The city of Messina is preparing to host the opening of 39th Men's World Surf Casting Championship and 30th Women's World Surf Casting Championship which will take place, from 5 to 11 November, for the first time in Sicily, and divided into various stages which will also take place in the municipalities of the provinces of Messina and Catania.

The program of the event which will see Messina as the protagonist of the inaugural ceremony on Sunday 5 November, at 15.30 pm, in Piazza Duomo, will be illustrated in the presence of the mayor Federico Basile and the councilor for Sport Massimo Finocchiaro, during a press conference to be held today, Friday 3 November, at 10.30 am, in the Flag Hall in Palazzo Zanca.

The sporting event, among the most important in the global panorama of competitive sport fishing federations, sponsored by the Municipality of Messina, with the collaboration of the Port Authority of Messina and the Maritime State Property Office, is promoted by the Italian Federation of Sport Fishing and Underwater Activities and organized by the FIPSAS regional and provincial committees of Sicily.

The press conference will be attended by a delegation of national representatives of the FIPSAS Federation and the related Committees respectively, the vice-president of the Surface Fishing Sector Stefano Sarti; the president of the Committee for the organization of the World Cup and federal councilor Mariateresa Costanzo; the president of the Regional Committee Antonio Tripi; the presidents of the provincial sections of Messina Alessio Casella, from Catania Santo Gerardo Leva, and Caltanissetta Antonio Zagarini; as well as representatives of the municipal administrations who will host the stages of the world championship in their municipalities.
During the meeting, "FIPSAS sport fishing Village" will also be illustrated, a collateral initiative to the Championship called "FIPSAS sport fishing Village", scheduled from 5 to 8 November, again in Piazza Duomo.
