The Modena Liberty of the new Diurno and Piazza Mazzini.
The history of the Albergo Diurno, built in 1933, of Piazza Mazzini and of the buildings built in the first decades of the twentieth century by Modena's bourgeois families in the so-called "new art" is at the center of the guided tour dedicated to Modena Liberty scheduled Saturday 19 August at 17pm. In the central room of the current Nuovo Diurno, in Piazza Mazzini, thanks to the multimedia projection system on the walls, enthusiasts will be able to immerse themselves in the fascinating itinerary to discover the sumptuous architecture and decorations of the city centre.
Visit is free, for a maximum of 25 Guests. To participate you must book through the site visitmodena.it.
The visit, lasting 45 minutes, will begin at 17pm New Daytime, an obligatory stop to understand the impact of the Art Nouveau style on the city. The Diurno presents itself as a symbol of modernity and the evolution of the times, and tells the story of the era. The visit will continue outside, in Piazza Mazzini, one of the most "liberty" squares in Italy, to closely observe the prestigious residences of some of Modena's most important families who contributed to shaping the history of the city. This place became a focal point in the transformation of Modena into an Art Nouveau city when the rich twentieth-century bourgeoisie decided to move to the city, considering it as an economic and service opportunity.
The appointment is part of the new cycle of visits organized by the Municipality of Modena, the City and Tourism Promotion Service with Ar/s Archeosistemi, which, on a monthly basis, allows you to explore the different aspects of Modena through virtual reality and tools multimedia made available in the Nuovo Diurno: from the history of Jewish Modena to the Art Nouveau city, from Diurno itself to the food identity with the Albinelli market up to the city between the Renaissance and Baroque.
