The “Donna Sarda 2023” Award to Iride Peis Concas.
“Valident author, she gave voice to women who played a significant role in the Sardinian mining world”. This is the motivation on the symbolic plaque delivered by the Mayor of Cagliari Paolo Truzzu, a Iris Peis Concas who won the award “Sardinian Woman 2023”.
The awards ceremony for the recognition created by the Cagliari Lioness Lions Club, now in its 36th edition, was held yesterday morning, in the Council Room of the Palazzo Civico in via Roma in Cagliari.
With her publications inspired by the world of mining, Iride Peis Concas, who has dedicated her professional life to the role of primary school teacher, has given her interpretation to life in the mine. Well known to her for having lived in Montevecchio with her husband, a doctor at the largest mine in Europe. Sufferings, difficulties, deprivations were touched first-hand by the author who wanted to bring to the fore, especially from the point of view of women, what was happening in the mine.
