Terramara. The park's twentieth anniversary party is underway.

From Thursday 25 April and for the weekend, in the archaeological area of ​​Montale exciting sound installations that recall the Bronze Age and experimental archeology festival

Terramara (MO). The park's twentieth anniversary party is underway.

The Terramara di Montale archaeological park turns twenty and for the occasion it dresses up and from Thursday 25 April offers the public new exciting installations to recall the Bronze Age and experiences of experimental archeology brought together in a festival, tastings of gourmet sandwiches and other surprises.

The celebration of the twentieth birthday is concentrated on the long weekend of April 25th. Precisely on that day the two rebuilt houses were renovated with a sound journey (designed by the Delumen studio of Modena) which enriches the visit with a sensorial experience. “What noise does a terramara make?” Visitors will discover this by entering homes and listening to the noises produced by the activities of their inhabitants and those of the surrounding environment.

On the weekend of Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April "Il Parco in festival" offers a two-day event dedicated to experimental archeology with demonstrations and workshops organized by all those, Italian and European, who have shared its path in these twenty years, through comparisons, collaborations, exchanges of experiences. The Binggeli couple will return, the extraordinary Swiss archaeometallurgists who, in addition to being the authors of many bronze replicas present in the reconstructed houses, have transmitted to the Park operators the know-how necessary to continue and implement the experiments and together with them The Three of Swords , composed of staff archaeologists Federico Scacchetti, Luca Pellegrini and Andrea La Torre, who will present the bronze casting process. Tiziana Aste will also be present, who has been studying weaving techniques on ancient looms for years. And the University of Exeter, the Park's partner in various international projects, will also participate, with three researchers expert in weaving, yarn and leather processing techniques.

Also present are the main archaeological parks of central-northern Italy which will be presented to the local public to cover all aspects of the Bronze Age productions, with some forays into previous periods: Travo archaeological park (Piacenza), Archeoparc Val Senales dedicated to Oetzi, Fiavè nature archaeological park (Trento), Livelet educational archaeological park (Treviso), Belverde Cetona archaeological park and archaeodrome (Siena).

And many more archaeological technicians, to stage and let children experiment with the making of arrows, the modeling and firing of ceramic shapes, the preparation of food, the dyeing of fabrics, the production of glass and amber, listening to ancient sounds .

Two stations will recreate the Bronze Age table with the preparation of bread and cheese and archaeobotany games to discover the plant foods present in the terramare (organized by the Universities of Bologna, Department of History, Cultures and Civilizations, and of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Laboratory of Palynology and Paleobotany, Department of Life Sciences).

Demonstrations of experimental archeology take place throughout the entire opening day from 10am to 19pm; workshops for children and teenagers take place at more specific times, booking takes place directly at the entrance to the open-air museum. There are many places available because many activities take place at the same time and are repeated over the course of the day in order to accommodate all requests. The cost of the workshops is already included in the entrance ticket, reduced to 3 euros for everyone.

To open and close the celebrations, after the greetings of the institutions which will be held at 10.30 in the lawn adjacent to the reception, there will be the Marano sul Panaro band, on Saturday morning at 11, and on Sunday from 18 pm the marching Wind Band of the Il Flauto association Magical, thanks to the collaboration of the Municipality of Castelnuovo Rangone.

To ensure traditional street food (gnocco, tigelle, borlenghi) there will be the Castelnuovo Public Assistance stand available at the entrance to Terramara.

On May 1st the "king of the sandwich" Daniele Reponi closes the celebrations with "A sandwich of greetings" for the Park's birthday: gourmet tastings between recovery of tradition and unusual combinations, in collaboration with Musa - Museo della Salumeria.

On April 25th, 27th, 28th and May 1st entry is reduced to 3 euros for everyone (free up to 5 and over 65 years). The complete program is available on the site www.parcomontale.it and on social media FB and IG @parcomontale.
