Sticciano Scalo: Gray Cat Jazz Festival and Happy Days for the hundredth anniversary of Giorgio Albertazzi, a weekend of music and theater at La Pescaia Resort (Villa Tolomei).

Maremma remembers Giorgio Albertazzi, of which 2023 marks one hundred years since its birth, the great protagonist of Italian theaters who chose to live his last years precisely in Villa Tolomei (now La Pescaia Resort) in Sticciano, and it does so thanks to two of the most important festivals in the area such as Gray Cat Festival e Happy Days. In fact, two events are scheduled respectively to close the jazz festival directed by Stefano Cocco Cantini and to inaugurate the third edition of the theatrical initiative born from the idea of Eugenio Allegri: Saturday 19 August at 21pm, there will be Stefano's concert " Cocco” Cantini and his quartet (Stefano Cantini, sax; Raffaele Pallozzi, piano; Michelangelo Scandroglio, double bass; Francesco Petreni, drums) with special guest the very talented trumpeter Hermon Mehari, in the Gray Cat Festival program, to open this weekend of tribute and remembrance to the great actor (entrance: €30 – reduced Arci members, under 15 €25; advance sales available on www.eventimusicpool.it, www.ticketone.it).

On Sunday 20 August, however, for the debut of the Giorni Felici series, three great actresses who have collaborated for a long time with Albertazzi will take the stage in La Pescaia (19 pm): Mariangela D'Abbraccio, Laura Marinoni and Elisabetta Pozzi, in fact , together with Musica da Ripostiglio and Giancarlo Casadei will give life to "A successful loser", the autobiography of Giorgio Albertazzi, to give the public a man with a thousand facets, a rebellious, non-conformist spirit, an unforgettable actor in the Italian theater scene. The project is conceived and curated by Pia Tolomei (entry: €20; presales available on https://marte.18tickets.it/).

“We enthusiastically resume the traditional collaboration with the Music Pool association – these are the words of the mayor of the Municipality of Roccastrada, Francesco Limatola – which has been organizing the Gray Cat Festival and which manages to bring artists and musicians of great caliber to our territory. As done in the past in other suggestive places in our municipality, thanks to our participation we have contributed to the organization of the concert on Saturday 19 August for which we expect an important response in terms of interest, also given the suggestive location in which it is organized and the contemporary combination with the event of the following day in memory of the great Giorgio Albertazzi”.

“A celebration of words and music, with stories and musical performances will be staged in a decidedly evocative place. The La Pescaia resort in Sticciano - these are the words of the councilor for economic development and educational policies and education of the Municipality of Roccastrada, Elena Menghini - will certainly offer that added value that only some places are able to convey to the public present. The estate that welcomed Giorgio Albertazzi in the most important years of his life, today transformed into a wonderful resort in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma owned by the Tolomei family, is the place where he showcased his great passions: art and theater. I thank Pia Tolomei, wife of the master of Italian theatre, because it is thanks to her that events of this importance can be hosted in our territory".

Gray Cat Festival is promoted by the municipal administrations of Follonica, Scarlino, Grosseto, Roccastrada, Castelnuovo Val di Cecina, Castiglione della Pescaia, Massa Marittima, Monterotondo Marittimo, Montieri, Roccastrada, Suvereto, (involving three provincial territories) and by the National Park of Grosseto Metalliferous Hills.
