Montagnano (AR): Spotlight on the Giogo, the popular theater festival begins.
Il living room in the open air of Church Square in Montagnano is ready to open its doors. There XXXII edition of the European Popular Theater Award "The Yoke” is preparing to host companies from all over Italy and a long weekend of shows opens the first week of the review, which yes will complete the following week with four more appointments where the theater will be the absolute protagonist. Let's start: from Thursday 29 June to Sunday 2 July four popular theater companies from Tuscany, Umbria and Campania will take to the stage.
La first company The theater company will take to the graceful stage in Piazza della Chiesa.The Ship of Fools' of Arezzo with the show "The usher”, a story that talks – in the form of parody – of the figures of victim and executioner. "Going out” protagonist manages the entrance to an unlikely Dante's hell, but a simple mistake will completely reverse his position, transforming him from executioner to victim. The interpreters are Susy Lecca, Stefania Papini, Leonardo Fusai, Roberto Arrigucci and Claudio Giaccherini. The text and direction are by Roberto Arrigucci.
Da Arezzo to Assisi: Friday June 30 it's time of the Theater Association 'The Voices Inside' with “A half-night hangover dream", a comedy freely based on "Luck is fun” by Athos Setti. A story of dreams, lottery wins, superstitions and popular beliefs of a painful humanity that only in this way can think of a better future, to survive its present. The interpreters they are Gianni Bevilacqua, Anna Gioconda Santovito, Giacomo Affricani, Susanna Peppoloni, Giuseppe Brizi, Raffaele Lombardo, Monica Barbanera, Alfio Rosati and Teresa Scialla. The direction is by Gianni Bevilacqua.
Da Assisi we go down south until we reach Salerno. The 'arrives in MontagnanoBellizzi Company', which will take place on Saturday 1st July have fun and reflect il public of the Yoke with their comedy "Forty but he doesn't look it”. A somewhat old-fashioned widowed father is struggling with his daughters, and in particular with the eldest of the three, Sesella, who cannot find a husband. Her father's attempt to "fix her" with a nice guy ends up making the situation worse. Despite the melancholic underlying theme, it show is extremely comical, with fast pace and a crescendo of fun. The performers are Antonio and Maria Sannino, Alvaro Vitolo, Costanza Prezioso, Carmine Rossino, Simona Carbone, Eleonora and Antonio Altieri, Alberto Di Pasquale and Orlando Cerrato. The direction is by Antonio Sannino.
From Campania we return to Tuscany, more precisely in Cascina, in the province of Pisa. Sunday 2 July on the Giogo stage there's theThe Ring Company who presents the show “Double Taxi”, a classic comedy of errors by the British author Ray Cooney. It is a story of ordinary madness, where the protagonist is forced, despite himself, to keep a growing number of lies in balance and a clumsy juggler will end up being overwhelmed by them. Until even the truth seems like yet another (less) credible lie. The interpreters they are Grazia Gianni, Alessandra Bareschino, Orazio Cioffi, Achille Marciano, Simone Franchini, Olga Favara and Nicola Barbuti. The direction is by Luca Monday.
