Solidarity on the move between the Darsena and the Walls of Ferrara with the “Sebastian Run”

A Sunday dedicated to sharing and solidarity, walking between the Darsena and the Walls of Ferrara.

The next 29 September at 16 (meeting at 15.45pm) the “Sebastian Run“, non-competitive walk of approximately 5km, in its second edition, promoted by the pub of the same name in via Darsena, with the noble aim of raising funds to be allocated to the activities carried out in the area by Ado Foundation and Airc FoundationThe event is sponsored by the Department of Social and Health Policies of the Municipality of Ferrara.

All the details and objectives of the event were illustrated on September 26th in a press conference by the municipal councilor for Social and Health Policies Christina Coletti, together with the owner of the Sebastian Pub Thomas Stecca, to the manager of Feshion Eventi Alexandra Scotti, to the advisor of the Ado Foundation Sabina Mirabella, to the Airc Ferrara representative Paola Peruffo and to the head of Medical Graphic Carlo Piccinno.

“In this period – declared the Councillor for Social and Health Policies of the Municipality of Ferrara, Christina Coletti – Ferrara is full of initiatives whose aim is to promote moments of awareness for the most disadvantaged people, who need concrete support to face and overcome a treatment path. The “Sebastian Run” is an event that, despite being in its second edition, has already demonstrated, through the spirit of the organizers, to be a valid opportunity to meet to socialize and above all to help two organizations that act in the territory with great strength. I am referring to the Ado Foundation and the Airc Foundation, recipients again this year of the funds that will be obtained from registrations for the walk. We all know the value and quality of home and hospice care provided by Ado, and we are also aware that Airc, through scientific research, represents a concrete hope for patients. Awareness initiatives are never enough and should never be taken for granted. I thank Sebastian Pub, an example of how even the local entrepreneurial fabric wants, and is capable, of having a positive impact on the social and health front”.

“We thank – he stated Thomas Stecca – the Municipality, the sponsors and all those who collaborated in the organization and promotion of the event that has already registered about 250 registrations. A sign that we have managed to reach a community of people affected or in any case sensitive to the problem. Naturally we hope that other registrations will arrive in the next few hours and also on site at the last moment”.

“The pre-registrations, which we are taking care of, – he confirmed Alexandra Scotti – they are going very well. The charitable purposes and the beautiful route are attracting many participants”.

“I thank the organizers and the Municipality for involving us in this beautiful initiative – he said Sabina Mirabella by Ado – ​​and a special thanks goes to Airc which represents the light at the end of the tunnel of this devastating disease. Thanks to them, many neoplastic forms are less scary today and for others we still need to work on them, but the hope is to see other important results arrive”.

“Cancer research – he underlined Paola Peruffo – it is not just a microscope, but it is all of us, working to ensure that research itself continues. Soon the 'Pink October' will begin with its many initiatives in favor of research on female cancer and the 'Sebastian Run' can be considered the first of the calendar. The fundraising activity in the field is fundamental to improving everyone's life and ensuring that tears become many shining crystals”.

“The first edition – he recalled Carlo Piccinno – it was a bet that we won by managing to raise some funds for the Foundations. This year we organized everything in a more structured way and the dream is to continue to grow in the coming years. I would like to point out that all the proceeds from registrations and sponsorships, excluding the cost of the t-shirts for the participants, will go to Ado and Airc”.

THE PROGRAM for Sunday 29 September 2024:

– Meeting at 15.45 in Darsena in front of the Sebastian Pub;
– Departure at 16.00;
– Non-competitive walking tour of approximately 5 km: you go along the Darsena until you cross the new bridge to reach the ex Camilli park, then you go along the Kennedy car park and via Bologna, with an entrance in the under-walls from Porta Paola up to the Baluardo dell'amore. You then go up the walls for a short stretch, then return to the under-walls and do the reverse tour up to the Sebastian Pub;
– Return at 17.15 about;
- Beer and Sandwich for everyone offered by Sebastian Pub and Partesa.

The proceeds of the event will be donated to support the ADO Foundation and the AIRC Foundation

La ADO Foundation has been providing high-quality palliative care for years to people with oncological diseases or other chronic, progressive diseases in an advanced stage at home, in the clinic and in hospice, taking comprehensive care of the patient and their family.

La AIRC Foundation financially supports Italian scientific research on cancer in its laboratory and clinical aspects, and in particular cancer research projects and scholarships intended for the professional improvement of researchers and oncologists, including university and post-university training; disseminates the study activities and results of national and international oncological research; raises awareness among the population on the importance of prevention and early diagnosis and carries out oncological scientific research.
