Sirolo: “The embrace of water”, title of “Scuba Freedom” 2024
ASD Monsub organizes in Sirolo the second conference of the project “Scuba Freedom” entitled “The embrace of water”; the event will be held on September 21st within the Cortesi theatre starting at 16:30 pm and will be followed the following morning by sea trials.
Institutions, associations and civil society will meet to discuss recreational, sports and rehabilitation activities for people with physical and intellectual disabilities. The “Scuba Freedom” project, which started 15 years ago with the aim to make scuba diving accessible to all, is an initiative promoted by ASD Monsub which aims to creating barrier-free water experiences for people with disabilities. The initiative involves institutions, associations and citizens to raise awareness on the importance of inclusion through the sea and its recreational, cultural and sporting activities.
“The meeting was an opportunity to reiterate the strong cooperation on the territory which links the Region and associations such as Monsub that deal with social issues through competence, passion and sport, founding values of living together - Said Councillor Biondi“. The conference is sponsored by the Region and the municipality of Sirolo, with the partnership of the Italian Blind Union, Ancona Section and Panathlon of Jesi, and the assistance of the Croce Azzurra of Sirolo.
The regional councilor Marco Ausili will speak for the institutional greeting of the Region, Mirco Fava director of the Officina dei Sensi Foundation, Doctor Eleonora Claudia Giacomini, president of Magesta and founder of the Mare Aperto project for Accessibility and Inclusiveness of activities at sea, Andrea Cionna president of the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired, Ancona section. Fabrizio Pagani, FIPSAS athlete and world record holder in freediving for disabled people, Danilo Mazzocchetti, Paralympic swimming coach and Matilda Fiori, disabled girl HSA Open Water Diver certified in the Monsub club will give their testimony. who has spent the last 4 months among sharks and surfing in Australia, fully putting into practice the philosophy and skills acquired in the club courses. Moderation will be entrusted to the presenter Carla Saveri.
