Ruvo di Puglia, the 2024/2025 season of the New Municipal Theatre is underway

An eventful start for the New Municipal Theatre in Ruvo di Puglia, with theatre workshops for children and adolescents, the "Nutcracker Swing" concert and the first event in the series dedicated to American cinema.

Ruvo di Puglia, the 2024/2025 season of the New Municipal Theater is underway.

It is a start dedicated to the restimplementation of the work done with the community, that of the 2024/2025 season of the New Municipal Theatre of Ruvo di Puglia, created in collaboration with and with the support of the Municipality of Ruvo di Puglia and which closes the three-year period entitled “The State of the Art”.

In fact, in the month in which it falls, the International Day of Children and Adolescents, celebrated every year on November 20th, the New Municipal Theatre proposes four days dedicated entirely to the essays and the restitutions of the workshops carried out, in the previous months, together with the little ones: a choice designed to restore centrality to the new generations and to the fundamental role played by the latter in the journey of discovering theatre as a tool for growth, education and sociality.

And so we start on Thursday, November 21st at 19:XNUMX pm with the show Cyrano, a theatre essay for pre-adolescents, curated by Paolo Gubello and Annarita De Michele, with the participation of Vittoria Vino. Cyrano, Rossana and Cristiano are the protagonists of one of the most famous plots of modern theatre. Love, war, poetry, freedom are students of the great themes addressed by studying Rostand's text. A masterpiece that those pre-adolescent braggarts are bravely preparing to tackle on stage.

Friday 22 November, at 19 pm, it will be the turn of Fiabe_Gratest Hits, a theatre essay for children, voice and diction, curated by Paolo Gubello and Annarita De Michele, with the collaboration of Vanessa Scardigno and Irene Scarimbolo and, again, with the participation of the students of the voice and diction laboratory curated by Maria Pascale. The little ones in the workshop ventured, through theatrical play, into the magical and sometimes dark world of fairy tales, staging their most pop moments.

The following day, Saturday 23 November at 19pm, instead, the play Dream of a Midsummer Night's Dream, based on William Shakespeare, will be performed, an essay on adolescent theatre edited by Salvatore Marci, Paolo Gubello and Annarita De Michele. What is love? The question is so complex that Shakespeare wrote a comedy about it.

In A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Bard weaves together three narrative lines poised between the real and the fantastic, between reality and dream. Here, a fourth is added: the vision of the teenagers who talk to dear William and face him, offering their version of the facts, because teenagers, like lovers, and like madmen, have such a fertile brain, that they see many more races than cold reason can explain.

Finally, a double appointment on Sunday 24 November: at 19 pm Essere Favoloso will be performed, a performance of the dance theatre workshop curated by Annarita De Michele and Patrizia Labianca with the users of the centre “L'albero dei Desideri” of Ruvo di Puglia, in collaboration with the Department of Social Policies of the Municipality of Ruvo di Puglia, with the support of the measure “Generare Bellezza”.

The project brings the tale to the stage from a different point of view: the latter becomes surprising because it is told by someone who does not live in a standardized social superstructure on a daily basis, who has no prejudice and lives in purity and spontaneity with “childlike eyes”. Following, at 20 pm, it will be the turn of Le spose di Barbablu, an essay by the contemporary dance workshop curated by Arianna De Michele, inspired by the story “Barbablu” by Charles Perrault, the opera “Il castello del duca Barbablu” by the Hungarian composer Bela Bartòk and the drama “Ariadne and Bluebeard” by Maurice Maeterlinck. In all three versions, the imposed prohibition and the forbidden room are inevitable: what will that room hold? The opening of the door by Bluebeard's young bride conceals the desire to delve into her own fears, to face the bogeyman who lives in her unconscious.

In December, instead, the programming of children's theatre shows will begin with the first appointment, which will be staged on Sunday 15 December at 17.30 pm. On stage, Schiaccianoci Swing, theatrical concert for children and families produced by Bottega degli Apocryfi, designed to introduce the little ones to music and, with it, to drama and storytelling. Marie receives a mysterious gift that she will be able to open only when she is older. It is night, “but how can I sleep with a gift waiting for me over there,” she thinks as, overcome by sleep, she falls asleep. A mouse wakes her up, or rather more than one: an army of mice, entering the house, bite her old toys. They have certainly come to steal her gift. Thus Marie's night is intertwined with the story of Hoffman's Nutcracker Prince and Tchaikovsky's music, in a room of toys that are now as big as her and drag her to play with them. It could last forever, except that there's a mysterious gift waiting to be opened, just waiting for her to be old enough. How do you know when you're old enough? How do you enter a magical world? And how do you leave?

And again, starting on December 20th at 19 pm, the Friday review dedicated to the world of cinema, curated by Paolo Gubello and Salvatore Marci: a rebellious journey through American cinema, with four screenings of bizarre titles capable of escaping labels, but which represent true cult films from the 70s-80s-90s-2000s of star-spangled cinema. Four evening events in which the municipal theater opens to the seventh art, with screenings, previews, thematic dress codes and the inevitable post-viewing debates. It starts with The Rocky horror picture show, a 1975 film by Jim Sharman with Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick.

Box office of the Nuovo Teatro Comunale di Ruvo di Puglia, Tuesday through Thursday from 17 to 20 pm, or before each show. Tel. 080.3603114.
