“Ready for Action” arrives in Messina: from Thursday 9th to Saturday 11th November the Civil Protection Village will be in Piazza Unione Europea.

After the success of Palermo, with thousands of people in Piazza Verdi, the roadshow of Sicilian regional civil protection arrives at Messina for the second stage of “Ready for Action”.

From Thursday 9th to Saturday 11th November, in Piazza Unione Europea, in front of the municipality of Messina, the new Civil Protection Village through which the new information campaign to raise awareness, reduce risk and increase the resilience of the territory will be conveyed. Volunteers and professionals will be at the service of students and citizens to disseminate behavioral rules and the promotion of active citizenship, useful for reducing dangers in the event of an alert.

The Mayor Federico Basile, together with the councilor with responsibility for Civil Protection Massimiliano Minutoli, raise awareness «the citizens of Messina to participate in the event and to book at the Village, which will also involve the schools. The activities of the municipal emergency plan and those carried out in recent years of communicating to the population on the risks looming over the area will be disclosed. We will then talk about Security Week, our warning systems and some of the vehicles supplied to the municipality of Messina will be on display".

The objective of the "Ready for Action" campaign is to inform and make everyone aware of the eight Civil Protection risks (seismic, volcanic, tsunami, weather-hydro, environmental, industrial, health and fires) that threaten our territory and the best practices to deal with them.

In the "Civil Protection Village" there will also be numerous demonstration areas, a vertical climbing wall, a field kitchen and off-road vehicles used for putting out fires. And also the dog teams and the points organized by the civil protection of Messina. Interactive and educational games will be provided for younger children and school students. The roadshow events will be open to all from 9.30am to 18pm.

Furthermore, the Civil Protection offers everyone the opportunity to become part of a national system organized and specialized in prevention, rescue and emergency by enrolling in the basic courses, presented by experts in the dedicated stands.
