The poetic and profound essence of the emerged Marche, the sweet beauty of the landscapes, the greatness of the passions, the strength of creativity, all81st Venice International Film Festival.
“Thanks to investments in audiovisual media that have supported projects of the highest quality, the Marche Region has distinguished itself by making itself known on new circuits and to a wide audience – declares with satisfaction the Councilor for Culture Chiara Biondi – It was particularly exciting to witness the premiere of the event series 'Leopardi the poet of the Infinite' presented out of competition, with an absolutely exceptional cast, masterfully led by Sergio Rubini. The project is one of the winners of the Call for Support for Audiovisual Productions 2023 of the Marche Region with PR-FESR funds 2021-20217″.

The strategy undertaken has saw very high participation with quality projects, deserving and capable of promoting the territory, valorizing artists and exporting the Marche region to the world.
“With cinema we can promote our region, our cultural identity and make ourselves known – the councilor insists – we invest in cinema and in the Marche destination for the cultural and promotional value of the territory. This is a sector capable of channelling induced and offer several economic advantages. After all, the Marche region is a natural film set with its extraordinary landscape dotted with splendid cities and historic villages”.
The event miniseries describes the various facets of the genius from Recanati: the child prodigy, the rebellious adolescent, the romantic poet, the philosopher and thinker, from childhood to death. “Thanks to the audiovisual story the life of the poet from Recanati Leopardi, inspired by love and beauty, so universal, is returned in a modern and broad dimension and enters more directly into the lives of all of us, opening new horizons especially for young people".
Produced by IBC Movie, Rai Fiction and Rai Com, it was filmed in Montecassiano, Ascoli Piceno and Macerata.
“And poetry is the leitmotif of 'Marche Storie', the Festival that celebrates our rich poetic and cultural tradition, highlighting the deep bond between the poets of the Marche, the small towns and our extraordinary villages that have always been a source of inspiration” concludes the councilor.
Another special event in Venice is the screening, in competition in the Orizzonti section, of 'The Puppet and the Whale', by Roberto Catani. The master of animation from the Marche region presented a work made entirely on paper freely inspired by 'The Adventures of Pinocchio' by Collodi.
Fruit of more than three years of work, the movie, co-produced by MIYU and Withstand, was created with the support of the Marche Region – Marche Culture Foundation/Marche Film Commission, Center national du cinema et de l'image animée and ARTE and fits into the unique tradition of traditional illustration and animation of the Marche region.
