Potenza, at the Cappella dei Celestini the exhibition “Lorenzo Ostuni. Journey into a spiritual world between mirror and stone”

Potenza, the exhibition “Lorenzo Ostuni. Journey into a spiritual world between mirror and stone”, sponsored by Municipality of PotenzaIn partnership with Laurini Foundation – “Lorenzo Ostuni” Symbol Institute, il Municipality of Tito and the Municipality of Laurenzana, organized by Rebis Arte srls and edited by Fiorella Fiore.

"In line with the mission of the Three-Year Culture Plan of the Municipality of Potenza – declares the culture councilor of the municipality of Potenza, Stefania D'Ottavio – the intent is to enhance a still little-known heritage of the province and precisely that of the Laurini Foundation – “Lorenzo Ostuni” Symbol Institute, as a whole a precious container (from a “hidden” eighteenth-century noble villa in the historic center of the Municipality of Tito) and content, with its collection of mirrors engraved by Lorenzo Ostuni, also on display in Potenza after the important exhibitions held in Rome, at Villa Torlonia, in 2017 and in Tito, in the building of the Laurini Foundation – Istituto del Simbolo “Lorenzo Ostuni ” in 2020".

The exhibition aims to highlight a intangible heritage, but which manifests itself in the product study material, stones that the very young students of Ostuni they engraved in 1963, when Ostuni accepted the position of teaching literary subjects at the Laurenzana middle school (PZ), enriching their journey with the poetry, embroidery, ,, bas-relief , stone sculpture, recovering a nineteenth-century tradition of their country. A corpus of works which is, today, testimony to an incredible, albeit brief, laboratory of ideas.

To unite all this, the extraordinary figure of Lorenzo Ostuni, philosopher, psychologist, symbol scholar, author and director of Lucanian origins who lived and died in Rome in 2013, whose universe of knowledge, writings and works is now starting to be studied and brought topublic attention, thanks to the efforts of familyand Foundation dedicated to him, and of institutions who, together, understood theimportance of thought.

At the side of the exhibition the mirror engraving workshop edited by Lorenzo Ostuni's student, Elena Morizio, which will involve students from some institutes secondary school di Potenza.

The inauguration of the exhibition will take place Wednesday 22 December 2021 at 18 both at Chapel of the Celestines in Largo Duomo a Potenza.
Speakers include: Stefania D'Ottavio, Councilor for culture of the Municipality of Potenza; Giancarlo Laurini, President of the Laurini Foundation – “Lorenzo Ostuni” Symbol Institute; Graziano Scavone, Mayor of Tito; Michele Ungaro, Mayor of Laurenzana; Fabio Laurino, Councilor for culture of the Municipality of Tito; Giuseppina Anna Laurino, Councilor for Productive Activities of the Municipality of Tito and General Secretary of the Foundation; Vincenzo Ostuni, advisor to the Foundation; Fiorella Fiore, curator of the exhibition.

The exhibition will remain open to the public from the 22 December 2021 to the 22 January 2022 in the following times: Monday to Friday from 17 to 20, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 13pm e from 17 am to 20 pm; on 24 and 31 December from 16pm to 19pm. In the days of Christmas e Santo Stefano and New Year e Epiphany the exhibition will remain closed.

Entrance Loano train station, but limited and permitted to Green Pass holders, in compliance with Anti-Covid protocol.
