“Portrait of Sustainability”: the inauguration of the exhibition on Saturday 28th at the headquarters of the Superintendence of Messina.

A tribute to sustainability in the universal language of art by 26 Soroptmist artists and members from eleven regions of the country.

“Portrait of Sustainability”: the inauguration of the exhibition on Saturday 28th at the headquarters of the Superintendence of Messina.

“Portrait of Sustainability” is the theme of collective exhibition which will be inaugurated in the presence of the mayor Federico Basile, Saturday 28 October, at 17.30 pm, in former Church of the Good Shepherd headquarters of the Superintendency of Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Messina. The city's civil and military authorities will take part in the event, with Superintendent Mirella Vinci present.
The initiative, promoted by Soroptimist by the president of the Messina Club Linda Schipani, is part of the path indicated by the UN Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, protagonist of the programming of the 2021-2023 biennium of the Soroptimist International of Italy.

"I'm 26 artists, coming from eleven regions of Italy, who will arrive in Messina – explains President Schipani – for bring a real tribute to Sustainability, expressed in 5 of the 17 objectives of the 2030 Agenda such as Life on Earth, Gender Equality, Sustainable Communities, Quality Education and Responsible Consumption". Important values ​​that have given shape to the multiple and diversified projects implemented by the 163 Italian Soroptimist Clubs with schools, institutions, citizens and which here the Soroptimist artists interpret with free technique through their personal and authentic style".

Le Artists on display and the respective Soroptimist Club they belong to are: Andena Apple (Lodi); Valeria Arpino (Cuneo); Luisa Brandi (Elba Island); Mirta Carroli (Bologna); Lea Contestabile (L'Aquila); Renata Emmolo (Syracuse); Gaia Moltedo (Tigullio); Mariko Masuda (Alto Friuli); Marisa Montesissa (Piacenza); Patrizia Nalesso (Grosseto); Lucia Nardelli (Bolzano); Antonella Nelli (Terni); Marzia Nigito (Niscemi); Valeria Pagano (Syracuse); Maria Luisa Passeri (Perugia); Veronique Perrard Monzini (Varese); Dolores Previtali (Merate); Maria Teresa Romitelli (Valle Umbra); Leonilde Russo (Val di Noto); Mabi Sanna (Cagliari); Michela Santoro (L'Aquila); Linda Schipani (Messina); Mirella Spinello (Niscemi); Amanda Tavagnacco (Cividale del Friuli); and again Carla Sanjust (Cagliari) creator of the catalog that will accompany the exhibition and will tell the works through the texts of Stefania Severi (Rome Tiber).

The works on display range from paintings, sculptures, jewellery, photographs and videos characterized by high aesthetic value, as well as conveying a significant ethical and social message; and it is precisely for these reasons that the Superintendence of Messina, at the forefront in the action of preserving the cultural and landscape heritage of the territories, wanted to host the exhibition in the city of the Strait, one of the symbolic places of urban regeneration and sustainability. The artists protagonists of the collective, original and current, intend to make their contribution to spread, through the universal language of art, important values to the widest public of all ages, genders and conditions because sustainability is a moral and social obligation which finds in the potential of women a synergistic action strategy for the protection of the Planet and Human Rights.

The exhibition will be open to the public until November 7th; from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 13pm and on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 15.30pm to 18.30pm.
