Pistoia hosts the World Cup of Majorette Sport: the great international majorettes event.
Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th November, Pistoia hosts the World Cup of Majorette Sport, organized by the Majorettes-Sport World Federation in collaboration with ANBIMA APS Majorettes, with the patronage of the Municipality of Pistoia. The initiative will take place at the PalaCarrara, in Sant'Agostino.
Friday 8 November, at 17.30pm, The world competition will be inaugurated with the official presentation in the Sala Maggiore of the Town Hall, in the Cathedral square.
As it highlights the Tourism Councillor of the Municipality of Pistoia Alessandro Sabella «It has been a great pleasure to have collaborated, in recent months, with the National Association of Independent Italian Musical Bands for the creation and promotion of the World Cup of Majorette Sport. The city of Pistoia is preparing to welcome thousands of majorettes from all over the world together with their companions, who will have the opportunity to get to know and visit our territory. The temporary unavailability of the Palaterme in Montecatini is creating the conditions for important future collaborations, laying the foundations to host together, joining forces both on sports and conference facilities and hotels, major events».
About two thousand athletes will compete as soloists, duos, small groups and teams, with sticks, flags, ribbons and pom poms, divided by age into three categories: cadets, juniors and seniors. Over 1.000 delegations, divided into 30 teams from the nations of Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine and Hungary.
A real sport-entertainment, born in the United States of America in the 20s of the last century and also spread to Italy, as a precious reality that enriches its cultural heritage, in the centuries-old union with the musical band, as underlined by the national president of ANBIMA APS Rete Associativa, M° Giampaolo Lazzeri «For ANBIMA APS, Majorettes and Bands are the founding pillars. This new world event is a further piece of that mosaic that enhances the valorization of the world of Majorettes and reaffirms the collaboration, now historic, with this territory, which has already hosted, at the Palaterme of Montecatini, several Italian championships and will host the next ANBIMA APS Majorettes training courses. The World Cup confirms this strong understanding of the Councilor Sabella with our reality, the first Italian associative network. The organizational machine was set in motion right away, the fulcrum of the promotion and growth of Majorettes training at a global level».
After training courses, study of choreography, great commitment and passion for sport and entertainment, the Majorettes will take to the field for their performances with flags, ribbons, parade bats and pom poms.
Pistoia will be able to admire dedication, commitment, professionalism, competitive spirit, elegance, energy, spectacular choreography of the Majorettes formations, a concentration of the elements of this historic sport-spectacle supported, for our Italy, by the National Team coordinated by the manager Monica Rizzi. The disciplines, codified by the IMA and MWF directives, allow us to create the World Cup of Majorettes Sport 2024, the cornerstone of the annual global programming.
La opening ceremony is scheduled for Saturday 9th November, at 10 am; the closing one on Sunday 10, from 16.30 pm, with the awarding of prizes to the winning athletes of each specialty.
