Pesaro 2024: “Art Reads the World” with a Reflection on the Words and Images of the Present

On Sunday 10 November, the Teatro Sperimentale in Pesaro will host the second meeting of the "on art Pesaro" review curated by Intesa Sanpaolo and Marsilio Arte.

Pesaro 2024: “Art reads the world” with a reflection on the words and images of the present.

After the huge success of the first meeting with Stefano Mancuso, on Sunday 10th November (11am), the Teatro Sperimentale returns 'on art Pesaro. Art reads the world', the new initiative by Intesa Sanpaolo – main partner of Pesaro 2024 – and Marsilio Arte for the Italian Capital of Culture: 4 lessons dedicated to the great themes of the present interpreted through the key of art.

The appointmentor it is with the writer, artistic director and editorial curator Chiara Valerio with the speech entitled “All the images will disappear”. Does reality change when words change? And how? – Valerio wonders.

Reading Calvino or Saramago (I'm thinking of one of the American Lessons, L'esattezza, and a novel, Storia dell'assedio di Lisbona) everything seems to change, the private story of the characters and History. And how much are we still able to describe with words what is around us, given that we do nothing but take photographs (often a selfie)? And if we are still able, how will the art images made with AI - copies and inventions - change when to obtain them we have to write, that is, describe with words?

The review

Stefano Mancuso (October 27), Chiara Valerio (November 10), Laura Pepe (November 24), Riccardo Falcinelli (December 1): four exceptional personalities, belonging to different and transversal research fields that reflect the multidisciplinary criterion underlying on Art Pesaro. Despite the heterogeneity of the fields, the lessons represent an opportunity to reflect on the interactions between art, nature and technology in full harmony with the theme of Pesaro 2024 'The nature of culture' and will be accompanied by a visual story that will strengthen the link between word and image, stimulating the involvement of the public in a place (the theatre) dedicated by its nature to the needs and logic of the community. After Chiara Valerio, on November 24th it will be the turn of Laura Pepe, historian and scholar of the classical world, professor of Roman law and ancient law at the University of Milano with “Man and Nature in the Classical World”.
