Paolo Nani at the San Rocco Festival in Marina di Grosseto: on Sunday 23 July his show with over 2000 performances all over the world, "The Letter".
After the first day of San Rocco Festival, characterized by the inauguration of the exhibition OUT OF SEASON of the Pediatrics Project of the Grosseto Hospital and the inaugural show Il Conte di Montecristo-Video poetic mapping at the Forte San Rocco, the second appointment of the Festival opens the section theatrical with the international star Paolo Nani with The letter, show created by Nullo Facchini and Paolo Nani, directed by Nullo Facchini. The appointment is Sunday 23 July, at 21 pm, at Forte San Rocco.
The show, which from debut in 1992, was presented around the world with more than 2000 replicas, from Greenland to China, continues to attract and amaze for its ability to keep the audience captivated by the surprising transformations of the formidable artist Paolo Nani, considered internationally one of the undisputed masters of physical theatre. Alone on stage, with few props, Paolo Nani gives life to 15 scenes, all on the same theme, but interpreted in 15 different versions. The show is a brilliant study in style and ingenuity, with astonishing pacing.
The theme of The Letter is very simple: a man enters the scene, sits at a table, takes a sip of wine but spits it out, no one knows why, contemplates the photo of his grandmother and writes a letter. He bags it, stamps it and is about to leave when he suspects that there is no ink in the pen. He checks and finds that he hasn't written anything. Disappointed, he leaves. That's all, the story of La Lettera repeats itself 15 times in as many variations. The show was born as a study in style, surprise and rhythm, which are taken to the extreme with precision and comic effectiveness. The text is freely inspired by the book by French writer Raymond Queneau “Exercises in Style”, written in 1947, where a short story is repeated 99 times in as many literary styles. The San Rocco Festival, which together with DUNE – Arti Paesaggi Utopie is part of the larger Utopia Laboratory project, is organized by Changes Academy, with the contribution of the Municipality of Grosseto, the Tuscany Region, the Ministry of Culture, the CR Firenze Foundation, the Pro Loco of Marina and Principina a Mare.
