Padua: from 25th to 29th November FéMO “Tech It Easy”
From the 25 to 29 2024 November, the Youth Project Office of the Municipality of Padua is organizing the seventh edition of FéMO – Festival of Multimedia Expression, this year entitled “Tech It Easy“. The festival returns to the spaces of the Altinate San Gaetano Cultural Center and PG Lab, the makerslab in Piazza Caduti della Resistenza, for five days dedicated to of digital aggregation, with new collaborations, new events and new suggestions.
The Multimedia Expression Festival intends to promote the talents and the expressive and cultural specificities typical of the new digital generations, as well as developing their skills and communication abilities by offering space to new possibilities professional profiles.
A program of initiatives open to all, animated by maker, digital fabricator, performer, coder, videomaker of the ever-growing FéMO network, chosen from the proposals received in response to the selection process published last October.
Workshops, performances, meetings and exhibitions: the digital community of Padua and its surroundings returns to repopulate the spaces to make themselves known and share their skills and productions in the technological and multimedia fields. FéMO allows everyone to find and appreciate the different dimensions of digital animation and get to know the protagonists of the digital scene.
"We are happy to reconfirm this year an initiative that gives space and voice to the passions of the younger generations, through moments of training, entertainment and aggregation" comments Peter Bean, City Councilor with responsibility for Youth Policies. «It is an extraordinary opportunity for youth to take center stage, highlighting the talents and skills of young people and creating communities around current issues such as artificial intelligence, information accessibility, and new digital technologies».

FéMO Lab
FéMO Lab offers a calendar of thematic workshops in-depth study with six proposals scheduledThe appointments follow the thematic threads of the digital image creation and manipulation and the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence in the field of culture and communication.
Special attention is also paid to issues related to to cultural and communicative accessibility, which are addressed in the two workshops on Wednesday 27th November. Some of the events are part of the project “YOLO – Challenges for young stakeholders in twin transition” promoted by Fòrema and of which the Municipality of Padua is a partner, implemented within the framework of the Veneto Regional Programme European Social Fund Plus (PR Veneto FSE+) 2021-2027 – DGR n. 729 of 22/06/2023 – YOUNG ENERGIES – Experimental actions for the activation of young people in defining their own training and professional path.
FéMO EXPO
Culture and technology, photography and multimedia, traditional and 3D printing techniques are the areas in which the exhibition proposals of FéMO Expo move, a concrete space available to young artists/performers, who present their works, ideas and research results. The exhibitions are set up on the ground floor of the Centro Culturale Altinate San Gaetano and can be visited free of charge during the days of the festival.
No reservation is required, except for the performance “CulTech Lab – When culture marries technology".
FéMO EVENTS
FéMO Events is the calendar of collateral events, real events within the event.
Thursday 28 November at 17pm the fourth edition of “ is scheduledCortocorrente – Short Stories from the Present“, a short film review that collects short stories created within the workshops promoted by PG Lab, the headquarters of Progetto Giovani in Piazza Caduti della Resistenza – where the Punto Video Toselli loan and consultancy service is active – or selected among the partners. Places for this event are limited and reservations are recommended.
Friday, November 29, from 16:00 p.m., the installation “ comes to life insteadUser experience"of Alberto Tamiazzo e Jonel Zanato: dedicated to multimedia interaction through technological devices such as smartphones, tablets, joysticks and cameras, it allows you to explore art in an augmented space.
FéMO EDUCATIONAL
FéMO Educational is the section of meetings dedicated to high schools in Padua, designed to introduce students to the digital world. During the meeting “New digital artisans” the different facets of the makers world are presented by some professionals who, over the last few years, have managed to combine their passions with the new demands of the market. Speakers include Alexandra Chicco, maker and podcaster, Elia Ferraccioli, web marketing specialist and Anna Prendin, graphic and product designer.
Participation in these appointments is reserved for schools that have booked the intervention.
