Oristano, the Municipality and the University of Cagliari will work together for the cultural district “OOH! Oristano Over Hub”.
The Municipality of Oristano and the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering of the University of Cagliari will collaborate to implement a pilot project of urban regeneration through the establishment of a cultural district called “OOH! Oristano Over Hub” in the area of via Ghilarza.
The Sanna Board, on the proposal of the Urban Planning Councillor Ivano Cuccu, approved the resolution with the draft agreement that regulates the relationship between the Municipality of Oristano and the University of Cagliari.
The project will be born within the planning and programming activities of territorial development actions linked to the implementation of the POR 2021/2027, within the broader framework of the objectives set by the European Commission and the Sardinian Region.
"This is an important institutional collaboration on which we are counting a lot to redevelop a large area of the city already affected by other urban redevelopment projects. - explains the Mayor Massimiliano Sanna -. The activity, preparatory to the development of the cultural district project, will focus on the study and analysis of the settlement and production fabrics of the area and the construction of a program of actions and interventions, with initiatives involving local subjects, associations and production, cultural and social activities, with communication and dissemination actions and organization of public meetings.".
"The project aims to promote the regeneration of a large urban area of the city of Oristano, once a productive area linked to the production of bricks and small-scale manufacturing, today a new gateway to the city which, with the construction of the new intermodal centre, is preparing to become the new main entrance axis to the historic centre. - he adds the Councilor for Urban Planning Ivano Cuccu -. Today, that area hosts numerous productive activities, many of which are services to citizens, linked to sports and cultural activities, and requires a complete rethinking of the open, public and private space for public use. The agreement with the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering of the University of Cagliari allows us to take advantage of the technical excellence in the sector and aim for strategic and high-quality planning that will be able to combine best with the new vocation of the area beyond the railway, in conjunction with the other urban redevelopment programs launched in recent years by the Municipality".
