Oristano: concert of Marian songs in memory of Eleonora d'Arborea.

Il concert in memory of Eleonora d'Arborea which will be held on April 28th at 19pm it's an idea of the ISTAR Arborense Historical Institute, of the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Oristano, of the Archdiocese of Oristano and of the Department of Public Education, Cultural Heritage, Information, Entertainment and Sport of the Sardinian Region. The concert is the Nuoro Vocal Complex Directed by Maestro Franca Floris, proposed to 620 years since Eleonora's death, and will offer the public a rich selection of Marian songs.

No yes you have certainty on date of death of Eleanor of Arborea: “Recently the 1402 - explains Giampaolo Mele, Scientific Director of ISTAR -. Some Barcelona documents they speak clearly: late May/23 June 1403. The sources cite, among others, Giorgio Curculeu, an inhabitant of Stampace, who went to Aristanis to deliver some letters from the governor «to the jutgessa d'Arborea and to her son fill». But from 23 June 1403 the name of the Juighissa no longer appears in the documents of the Crown of Aragon. Eleonora in the Carta de Logu invokes God and the Madonna: gloriosa Virgini Madonna santa Maria di lei mama di lei. And she orders that blasphemers of God or Santa Maria pay a fine of 50 lire, otherwise: "a hook will be stuck in her tongue and it will be cut off so that she loses it." 620 years after Eleonora's death, ISTAR offers a concert of Marian songs. Among the pieces: Ave virgo sanctissima and Gaudeamus, from fourteenth-century codes of the Cathedral. Certainly, Sa Juighissa on the feast of the Assumption followed the solemn mass celebrated by the archbishop, with the Gaudeamus entrance. A gem: Stella cæli, sung by the Portuguese Poor Clares against the plague in the fourteenth century. In addition to brilliant polyphonic pieces, there are also two Sardinian pearls: the Rosary of Ghilarza and Orgosolo".
