On October 2nd the preview of the Bari 2023-24 theater season.

Appointment to Piccinni Theatre di Bari on October 2, at 19.30 pm, with “Italo Calvino – The writer in the trees” and some readings dedicated to the author by Blacks Marcorè, preview of the Altrimondi 2023-24 theater season of Municipality of Bari – Department of Culture organized together with Pugliese Public Theater.

The event, created in collaboration with the Prix ​​Italia Rai, inaugurates the 75th edition of the international competition dedicated to the best productions for TV, radio and the web, which for the second year is taking place in Bari in collaboration with the Puglia Region and Pugliapromozione.

The evening will open with the presentation of the unreleased documentary on the Italian writer Italo Calvino, a co-production RAI Documentaries and Art, written and directed by Duccio Chiarini. On the centenary of his birth, the adventure of the most important and indefinable of the Italian writers of the twentieth century narrated in a documentary that reinterprets his artistic journey through one of his best-known works, “The Baron in the Trees”.

The film's challenge is to offer a new look at the best-known author of the twentieth century, also thanks to previously unseen footage, photos and autograph letters granted exclusively. This documentary uses perhaps the most symbolic book by Italo Calvino as a prism through which to reconstruct the relationship between the author's work and the historical and political contexts that he went through, in the constant search for the right distance from the things of the world. After the opening on October 2, the homage to Calvino in the Altrimondi 2023-24 theater season continues with evening and matinee shows for schools “Like a kind of vertigo. The dwarf, Calvino and freedom” on 14 and 15 October, by and with Mario Perrotta, e "The castle", by Andrea Cramarossa, freely inspired by “The castle of crossed destinies”, for the twentieth anniversary of the Teatro delle Doll (9 October). On October 15th Piccinni dedicates a special event to the writer with the appointment “The gym – special edition Happy Birthday Calvino”, lesson show by Francesco Asselta, an opportunity to talk about his life, his works, but above all his idea of ​​a disorganic intellectual.

Until October 19th it is possible to subscribe to the prose season of the Municipality of Bari. The Piccinni Theater ticket office is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 13pm and from 17pm to 20pm.
