Olbia, The "La Città Variabile" webinar series promoted on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Giovanni Michelucci dedicates the March 25th appointment to the spaces of culture and entertainment starting from one of the architect's last works, the Michelucci Theatre.

On the occasion of the celebrations for the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Giovanni Michelucci, on Thursday 25 March 2021, from 16.00 pm to 19.00 pm, the Giovanni Michelucci Foundation in collaboration with the Municipality of Olbia, the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscapers, Conservators of the province of Sassari and the media partnership of AND - Magazine of architecture, cities and architects promotes the webinar entitled "The Variable City. The show must go on!".
«We enthusiastically welcome this important initiative – states the mayor Settimo Nizzi -. The Michelucci Theater in Olbia is the last work designed by the Architect. This is a great legacy that we are trying to enhance in every way. We thank the Foundation and the event partners for their efforts."

Thirty years after the death of Giovanni Michelucci, the webinar proposes a collective reflection on the spaces of culture and entertainment starting from the still current suggestions that the architect shared in his writing "La Città Variabile" and with which he inaugurated the year in 1953 academic at the University of Bologna.
The architect's words highlighted the fundamental role of citizens in modifying the city according to their needs in a constantly changing society. The city organism is in fact democratic and variable since «born from the instances of daily life, from the thoughts of men of culture, from the practical activity of most citizens, from the capacity for synthesis of technicians and artists, and as such manifests itself as a new work of art, understandable to everyone, even the uneducated, due to the richness of human consideration that is reflected in it".
In the current delicate phase of waiting for the recovery, after the suspension imposed by the emergency
healthcare, it is a priority to rethink social relations starting from places of culture and entertainment.

Furthermore, the strong cultural value of performance spaces stimulates the need to initiate virtuous experiences of urban regeneration, thanks to the coexistence of the artistic-intellectual dimension with the aggregative vocation as a catalyst for social cohesion.
In this context, starting from Michelucci's suggestions, it aims to focus our gaze on contemporary conditions through a multidisciplinary reading proposed by operators, scholars, administrators and designers, which interests the city and the community, tracing some lines of reflection oriented towards the future. Among the speakers who will speak are Virgilio Sieni, choreographer and director of CANGO National Dance Production Center; Velia Cervo, Vice President of the Mario Cervo Archive Cultural Association; the architect Vincenzo Latina; the composer and director of Tempo Reale, Francesco Giomi; and finally the architect and curator of the Italian pavilion of the 2021 Biennale, Alessandro Melis.

This webinar dedicated to the relationship between the City and Entertainment Spaces is the third of the "La Città Variabile" series which, which began in Florence on 20 November 2020, will develop on various themes in other Italian cities until the final event scheduled for June 2021 at the conclusion of the initiatives for the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Giovanni Michelucci.
Participation in the webinar is open to all, but registration is mandatory
