Brescia, Movember is born, for men's cancer prevention

Brescia, It all started in 2012 as a bet, to replicate the winning idea of ​​some Australian players, in wanting to pay attention to the prevention of prostate and testicular cancers, the Brescia-based movement Movember reaches a very important stage in 2020. From a group of volunteers, united for the same cause, to a true non-profit organization: Movember Italia ODV.
Also recognized by the Movember Foundation, the foundation that manages fundraising worldwide, Movember Italia will continue its journey with the aim of involving - starting with rugby players - kids of all ages, inviting them to grow moustaches, now a symbol of prevention for men's health, and to support charitable initiatives with the purchase supportive of a t-shirt.
Until 2019 Movember has supported the ANT Foundation, helping to organize early diagnosis visits for testicular cancer – 440 checks since 2017 – and raising over 120.000 euros in eight years. This year the fundraising objective is broadened to also support the Spedali Civili, for the implementation of robotic oncological surgery, which is less invasive and of considerable benefit to the patient, and the University of Brescia in its oncology research projects developed by the Department of Pharmacology.
The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic changes the methods of dissemination and fundraising, unfortunately excluding all related recreational events, but aims at a considerable increase in free urological visits, organized by many health clinics scattered in the province of Brescia: Physical Therapy Center, Centro Vitae, Fleming Tecna and Santa Caterina Polyclinic.
