Bookcity, the successful Milanese event dedicated to the world of books, is also coming to Monza for the first time, crossing the metropolitan borders to reach the capital of Brianza, from 9 to 17 November.

War and peace

The aim is to promote events that can stimulate debate and reflection. on a highly topical and urgent theme, “War and Peace”, thinking of books and reading as tools for sharing and development. It is about involving a broad and varied audience, considering readers as protagonists of the city's identity and its transformations in past, present and future history.

“We are pleased to participate in a cultural event of great importance, which promotes the entire book supply chain and considers reading a lever for growth and inclusion”, explained the Councillor for Libraries Viviana Guidetti.

The program

The event is part of the BRIANZABIBLIOTECHE Stories Festival and includes 43 free initiatives, 12 of which are held within the walls of the city libraries.

On the calendar meetings with authors, readings, theatrical performances, exhibitions, conferences, animated readings, creative workshops for children, teenagers and adults that will be held in the libraries of the Urban Library System, including the library of the Prison and the Historical Archive, in the bookshops, at the Capitol Cinema, at the Binario 7 Theatre and in the city's cultural venues, bringing books and reading to unusual places.

Numerous initiatives are organized in collaboration with six libraries in the city and five local associations. The complete program is online at www.brianzabiblioteche.it

“Since its inception, BookCity has been a inclusive, widespread and participatory demonstration, with the ambition of stimulating meetings, exchanges and collaboration between the cultural realities of the territory – adds the BookCity Steering Committee Milano

It should come as no surprise that, over the years, BCM has grown to include other cities, including, in its thirteenth edition, 5 provinces in Lombardy: Como, Cremona, Lodi, Monza and Pavia. In the desire to trigger a mechanism of connections and mutual suggestions, we work to build a cultural network capable of encouraging the connections, which already exist, between these cities.

The aim is, as it has always been, to promote books and reading, supporting cultural life and its development, in an osmotic relationship of mutual exchange. It is a network that every year seems to become thicker with new relationships, which in turn are capable of multiplying”.
