Montelabbate: from 26 August to 50 September “Capital squared” of the '50×80' project. The XNUMXth anniversary of the passage of the Allied front and the breakthrough of the Gothic Line will also be celebrated.

From 26 August to 50 September, the Municipality of Montelabbate is the new protagonist of '50×XNUMX: Capitals squared', the symbolic project of Pesaro 2024 which sees the fifty Municipalities of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in turn, as Capital for a week throughout 2024.

The program – entitled 'The Buonenotti of Culture – offers a rich offering of art, history, music, cinema and readings for the little ones; naturally the lights are also on an excellence such as peach, an ancient and renowned fruit of this area. Also in the calendar two events of Cosa c'è DOP and – a truly precious gem – a new stage of 'Hidden Castles' to go and discover theAbbey of Tommaso in Foglia and the Castle of Farneto.

Thus Daniele Vimini deputy mayor and Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Pesaro: I thank Montelabbate with a week that focuses on artists through a series of exhibitions and then space for music and agri-food. I like to remember how some of the initiatives born with 50×50 – Cosa c'è DOP and Castelli Nascosti for example – are working very well and have the characteristics of reproducibility, they can be replicated and become stable over time by networking them with a long-term perspective beyond January 2025; among other things, these are initiatives born from collaboration between associations and the business world.

Montelabbate will celebrate during its week the80th anniversary of the passage of the Allied front and the breakthrough of the Gothic Line: Roberto Rossi, mayor of Montelabbate, intervenes. The culture week will take its guests to Quota 111, on the hills between Montecchio and Osteria Nuova where on the night between 30 and 31 August 1944 (exactly 80 years ago), with a heroic bayonet assault the Canadians of the Perth Regiment captured the first German position in the Gothic Line.

But Montelabbate is not only a land of history and memories, it is also land of work and technological development. Land of industry of course, but also of small agricultural companies attentive to the environment and sustainability, where an ancient and renowned fruit is still cultivated today: the Montelabbate fishing. The culture week will also celebrate this extraordinary product which a small group of farmers still keeps alive with so much effort. In fact, in the course of events there will be no shortage of opportunities to talk about its history and its organoleptic characteristics which differentiate it from the rest of the market. The final evening, Sunday 1 September, will then be a real party in the peach orchard, with music, memories and some delicious tastings prepared by local associations.

Continue Riccardo Rossi councilor for cultural policies of Montelabbate: “Le Buonenotti della Cultura is the title we have chosen to give to the Montelabbate week. The idea is to re-propose the format of the Le Buonenotti initiative which has animated the summers of our area for almost ten years: a series of small itinerant summer nocturnes to discover hidden places, rich in history and culture. (From the hills of Osteria Nuova and Borgo Marcellino, to the peach orchards, from the Abbey of S. Tommaso to Apsella, arriving at the Borgo di Farneto, passing through Ripe and the ancient Castle of Montelabbate.). These places will be the setting for various initiatives such as the evening of music and poetry in the village of Farneto on Tuesday 27 August and the cinema under the stars on Wednesday 28 August immersed in the hills of Osteria Nuova, right in the places of the Gothic Line, a scenario in which after the war many innocent young people and others lost their lives, victims of minefields, a slice of local history that we have chosen to remember with a uniquely powerful film that reflects on the absurdity of war. Always in those places we will have a concert at dawn that will cheer us up with music and a delicious breakfast prepared by the Pro Loco of Montelabbate. There will be no shortage exhibitions and art installations curated by two local artists such as Leonardo Nobili and Ricardo Aleodor Venturi but also reading and printing workshops for the little ones at the Municipal Library. Each initiative will be enriched by tastings and aperitifs organized by the Montelabbate associations who will pamper us with local products including the inevitable queens of the territory: peaches.”

Massimo Tonucci President BCC Banca di Pesaro – Credito Cooperativo, special partner of 50×50 Capitali al quadrato, underlined the value and richness of the programs developed by all the Municipalities including Montelabbate. “We as a bank of Pesaro and the neighboring municipalities in the area felt dutifully involved in participating especially in these events that give the sense of our presence in the area. A presence that is growing year after year in a very concrete way.”

'Beyond the visible' it is a collective exhibition, a way to compare different artistic expressions such as photography, painting, sculpture and much more: explains the curator of the exhibition, the artist Leonardo Nobili. The artists who will exhibit will be a heterogeneous group from all over Italy. The exhibition will be inaugurated Monday 26 August in the Spazio Nobili of the Historic Municipal Palace of Montelabbate.

'Like peach blossoms in books', the project for the Montelabbate library, was born from a gesture: thus the artist Ricardo Aleodor Venturi. The intention to "save" and dry the flowers between the pages of a book. Thus stopping a moment of life like remembering a page or holding up a book. A "page marker" that I have been very fond of since childhood and that returns in every book I read, where experience, life shows us that it has passed by there. An invisible exhibition, a work that must be sought, a push towards something that must be read, browsed and only then perhaps understood and matured. The initiative will take place at the municipal library of Montelabbate on Thursday 29 August.

Antonella Terenzi, president of the Montelabbate section of the National Association of Fighters and Veterans, illustrated the program 'The night of heroes', a night walk that will take place on Friday 30 August on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the taking of the Gothic Line (August 30, 1944): an initiative that focuses attention on a place that deserves memory to pay attention to those who gave us freedom.

50X50 Capitals squared
Born in the name of a highly participatory method, the macro-project sees the fifty Municipalities of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, 'Capital' for a week throughout 2024. The rich 12-month program holds together beyond 350 subjects thanks to an unprecedented choral work between the administrations sanctioned by a protocol, it involves hundreds of artists and creatives and represents an invitation to a journey between nature and culture, to discover a polycentric and polyphonic land, between sea and hills.

50×50 was born from a collective intelligence that also works on small communities and understands the territory not only within the urban ring but as valuable network of relationships and connections over a vast and expanding area: because the Capital of Culture is an opportunity to increase the cultural capital of all citizens. By placing the focus on individual excellences, the great picture of a province that wants to present itself at its best to Italy and the world with the ambition of being a real laboratory of ideas for the other cities that are applying for Italian Capital of Culture.
