Milano, the power of nature told through the 100 winning shots of the Wildlife Photographer of The Year.
Will Milano, at Palazzo Francesco Turati in via Meravigli 7 (Cordusio area) from 30 September to 31 December 2022, to host the famous photography exhibition Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
It is the tenth edition in the Lombard capital, organized by Radiceunopercento, the cultural association with the collaboration of the Municipality of Milano.
100 shots have been awarded and exhibited , out of the 50.000 sent, at the 57th edition of the photography competition organized by the Natural History Museum in London. There are 96 countries from which the photographs taken by professional and amateur photographers come.
An international jury of experts they selected the finalist photos at the end of last year based on the criteria of creativity, artistic value and technical complexity; these are photographs that show endangered animal species, unknown habitats and behaviors not visible on a daily basis and landscapes from all over the world. Nature, with its power and fragility, is the protagonist of the exhibition.
He is the French biologist, as well as underwater photographer Laurent Ballesta, with Creation, to have won the title of Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2021. The shot depicts a trio of groupers in a cloud of eggs and sperm, a play of movements obtained after 5 years of day and night work in Fakarava, Polynesia French; the rare event because it occurs only once a year is increasingly unique due to the endangered species threatened by intensive fishing, the Polynesian lagoon is one of the last places where these fish can still live free, because it is a reserve .
Vidyun R. Hebbar is the young Indian winner of the Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2021 together with his Dome home, a photo illustrating a spider inside a crack in a wall. Among the category winners is Stefano Unterthiner from Aosta, with the Head to head shot (Behavior of mammals).
There are four young Italian photographers who have received a special mention: Mattia Terreo, with Little grebe art (Under 10 years) and Giacomo Redaelli, with Ibex at ease (15-17 years)), as well as Georg Kantioler, with Spot of bother (Urban Wildlife) and Bruno D'Amicis, with Endangered trinkets (Photojournalism). The well-known naturalist and award-winning wildlife photographer Marco colombo, will be available for guided tours of the exhibition at Palazzo Francesco Turati, every Friday (three shifts starting from 18pm by reservation - also available on demand).
