Milano: “That great genius…” from 29 September to 1 October the first edition of the event dedicated to Lucio Battisti!

'That Great Genius'is an initiative that since September 29th to October 1st will group one dozen events and for the first time – in the same exhibition – yes will embrace the entire discography of Lucio Battisti. From the first 45s of the late Sixties which became great popular successes, to arrive at the electronic breakthrough of the so-called 'white records' with Pasquale Panella, five albums that mark the ambition of giving life to a new way of making songs. Operation certainly successful.

Why Milano?

Why from the very beginning the Lombard capital knew enhance his talent, allowing him to frequent the recording scene and excellent musicians, as well as introducing him to Giulio Rapetti Mogol, a key figure in his artistic life. Central places of that creative ferment were the Galleria del Corso and Casa Ricordi, where it all began. Thinking about and organizing an event of this type precisely at Milano it is the best way to pay homage to and enhance his long artistic journey.

Milano: "Quel gran genio..."  dal 29 settembre al 1 ottobre la prima edizione della manifestazione dedicata a Lucio Battisti

Il project he found right away the support convinced of the Municipal Administration and specifically Tommaso Sacchi, Councilor for Culture, who they joined Sea Airports, Northern Railways Milano and the CPM Music Institute (one of the most important music schools in Italy, founded and directed by Franco Mussida). Other collaborations are closing in these days, thus allowing the work team to be completed in the best possible way

Twelve events are planned, who will try to involve the greatest number of the 9 municipalities into which it is divided Milanothat spirit will be to bring the music by Battisti 'inside the city, even in the suburbs, involving various types of public, with few paid events and the majority free. The location choices will not be alone theaters or auditoriums, but also bookshops, cinemas, subways, squares, etc. All fueled by a strong 'social' component that will be put in place to actively involve the public.

Will three days in which Milano will be permeated with Baptist music, with proposals that will be able to offer the "great" successes but where the last six albums will also find space, those which after the end of the partnership with Mogol saw him collaborate first with Velezia (pseudonym of Grazia Letizia Veronese, his wife) and then with Panella.

Among the most significant moments of the event we highlight the “Departure time”, which will take place at 07.40 on Friday 29 September from Cadorna Station, with a group of buskers singing the famous song. But as the second part of the song states, the "him" in love wants to reach her "her" and takes a flight at 08.50. No sooner said than done. A new group of buskers will be present at Linate Airport, at 08.50 sharp, to start a new flashmob which will give the official "launch" to the 1st edition of That Great Genius.

Il program is being defined, but there are other moments worth mentioning shared listening of "Latin soul” and the conference to be held at CPM, a key moment in which the mission of the event will be highlighted, i.e. Battisti's innovative capacity. The last show will be at the Franco Parenti Theater on Sunday 1 October, where a great concert which will embrace his entire production, a chronological live performance from Per una lira up to Hegel which will take the listener by the hand making him experience the artistic evolution that has gone through 'all' of Lucio Battisti's production.

Un full artist, popular at the same time refined, which managed to win over the public across the board. Unique would be the most correct adjective.

La Direction artistic will be curated by The Island that Never Was, a Milanese company that has been dealing with Italian music for over twenty years through a website updated daily and the various connected social channels.
