Open until April 26th, with free entry from 10am to 18pm, at Palazzo Lombardia, the 'Iconic Women' exhibition by artist Domenico Pellegrino.
The exhibition is set up at the IsolaSET Space, with entrance from via Galvani a Milano.
'Iconic Woman', inaugurated during the Design week, presents ten pop icons for ten stories, for ten female voices that give a soul to the light installations.
Among these, a tribute to Carla Fracci, great star of the Teatro alla Scala who during her career danced on the most prestigious stages around the world.
Sicilian artist Domenico Pellegrino offers an ironic challenge to those who think that bodies can exist without heads. His 'Iconic women' constitute a single project expressed in different languages compared.
Visitors will be able to admire the faces of eight famous women, from Raffaella Carrà to Frida Kahlo and Madonna, from Marylin to Moira Orfei, from Queen Elizabeth to Barbie, as well as Carla Fracci.
The iconic women are the protagonists of original installations in wood and LED lights, 'asking for a body' in as many stories by Eleonora Lombardo narrated by ten Sicilian women from the world of entertainment, offering a personal and authentic interpretation of the figures they represent, enriching thus the artist's story.
They lent their voices: Stefania Auci, Giusina Battaglia, Stefania Blandeburgo, Emma Dante, Marianna Di Martino, Donatella Finocchiaro, Eleonora Lombardo, Stefania Petyx, Barbara Tabita, with the special participation of the artist's daughter, Anna Sofia Pellegrino, together with the children of the Ditirammu Theatre.
The addition of ten vinyl records, accompanied by a musical selection curated by Donatella Sollima, artistic director of the Sicilian Friends of Music Association, amplifies the experience of visitors to the exhibition and provides a soundtrack that integrates the stories and paths of each character portrait.
Thanks to the use of the Aria Platform app, visitors will be able to access special content simply by framing the bright portraits, discovering digital content that animates the portraits of women. It will be possible to hear the voice reading the text by directly framing the vinyls on display.
'Iconic Women' is therefore not just an exhibition of works accessible in an original way but a dynamic project destined to be enriched over time, with the inclusion of new portraits and new stories linked to the cities that host the exhibition.
After Milano, the exhibition will move to Favignana and, in autumn, to Palermo.
Dominic Pellegrino, born in 1974 in Mazzarino (CL) is a sculptor and creator of luminous urban installations that collect pieces of Mediterranean culture to transform them into contemporary pages.
His is an innovative work that finds inspiration in the light of Southern Italy, but also in the illuminations of the patronal festivals: his works are created starting from artisanal techniques handed down from generation to generation, reinterpreted with a postmodern language.
