After the success of previous editions, the Fair Play Festival continues in Cernusco sul Naviglio - promoted by ASO Cernusco, created in collaboration with the Municipality of Cernusco sul Naviglio and with the support of the Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Milano, main sponsor of the event - with a program full of events designed to celebrate the importance of respect for opponents, loyal attitudes and healthy competition.

The three best episodes, chosen through a call open to all sports clubs

Born in 2020, Fair Play Festival is organized by Aso Cernusco, one of the largest associations in Italy affiliated to the CSI, born from the union of the sports groups of the oratories present in the city with the aim of enhancing tradition, while playing in attack to propose educational passion through sport, with the support of BCC Milano as main sponsor and with the collaboration of Municipality of Cernusco sul Naviglio represented by the Mayor Ermanno Zacchetti, who comments: "After four editions since its conception, the Fair Play Festival is confirming itself as a beautiful intuition for making sport a tool for shared growth, a qualifying element of the desire to be an inclusive and inclusive sport capital of volunteering. This year the formula of widespread and "two-part" programming, in spring and autumn, with a series of preparatory events, represented a further evolution, in an attempt to make participation as broad as possible. The ability to make concrete experiences available and the contamination with other fields such as literature and theatre, make the Fair Play Festival, our city and its sports movement the heart from which this positive message spreads, in the territory and in all Italy."

The second half of the fourth edition opened on Tuesday 26 September with the presentation-exhibition “Clenched Fists” in Cernusco Sul Naviglio (MI) with the participation of the actress Rita Pelusio and the playwright Domenico Ferrari: the event was designed to tell and conclude a longer project which united children aged 13 to 15 of the CD Giambellino Youth Aggregation Center in a double path, theatrical and sporting. The aim of the project was to get young people to express themselves on some particularly delicate issues, which they deal with on a daily basis, through the boxing and theatre, two apparently distant experiences but extremely effective due to their characteristics as social aggregators. Through the comparison with the story of the boxer Leone Jacovacci, an iconic figure of Italian boxing in the 20s, the children were able to discuss issues such as racism, the search for an identity and, finally, sport as social redemption. The journey was told through photographs taken by the participating children guided by the professional photographer Massimiliano Gatti.

Six Figurines
Dramaturgy and direction by Edoardo Erba. With Stefano Borghi.

Sei Figurine is the story of a young man who, to spite his father, changed his footballing faith by denying his favorite team. To explain how it happened, the protagonist must return to his childhood and recount his first steps as a fan, which coincide with his passion for stickers. In Italy we cannot talk about stickers without talking about the Panini brothers, and it is precisely by extracting the stickers from a Panini pack one by one that the boy tells six stories: stories of fair play in a world, that of football, which too often seems synonymous with violent and ungenerous passions. Focusing on the last figurine, the young man thinks back to his relationship with his father and emotionally remembers his affection and charisma as a gentle man.

Edoardo Erba – Playwright, director, screenwriter and playwright born in Pavia in 1954, is considered among the most brilliant talents of his generation. All nuances are intertwined in his plots, from detective stories to the comic vein of comedy. Erba's writing uses the most diverse syntaxes, from psychological noir to the grotesque, from Metaphysical drama to comedy of manners, but he declines this variety in an extraordinary stylistic coherence, capable of making his stage writings immediately recognisable. Author of a novel, he has written fiction, sitcoms and variety shows for radio and television. He is also a professor of Writing for the Stage at the University of Pavia.

Stefano Borghi – Pavese, born in 82, is a sports journalist and commentator by vocation. He has almost 2.000 commentaries under his belt and is considered an expert above all on the international scene, with particular specialization on Spanish, South American and English football. Commentary is his daily bread, but he also participates in television programs and collaborates with numerous print and online newspapers.

Clenched Fists

A meeting between theater and boxing.

The Pugni Chiusi project is a laboratory that united 12 young people from the CD Giambellino Youth Aggregation Centre, aged between 14 and 16, in a theatrical and sporting journey. After a phase of careful planning and presentation to the children of the Centre, the project developed starting from January 2023, concluding at the end of April with the creation of a theatrical performance linked to the commemorations for Liberation Day.

Pugni Chiusi involved young people from Giambellino, a historic neighborhood on the southern outskirts of Milano, immigrants or children of immigrants who live in a context characterized by poverty, social tension, widespread racism and school segregation. The aim of the program was to bring together, in an experimental and innovative way, two apparently distant experiences but extremely effective in stimulating self-expression in young people: boxing and theatre. Of all the sports, boxing was chosen for its characteristic as a social aggregator, especially in the gyms of the most popular neighborhoods; theater instead represents the art of the community par excellence, it is a tool for socialization and at the same time for personal change for those who approach it. Thanks to the project, the children were able to express themselves on issues such as racism, the search for an identity and, finally, sport as social redemption, through comparison with the story of the boxer Leone Jacovacci, an iconic figure of Italian boxing in the 20s. '900. The theater was organically inserted into the sporting path, making the kids tell not only the story of this icon, but also their stories and their experiences.

The project concluded on Saturday 26 September with the exhibition-show "Pugni Chiusi", designed to tell the story of the participating children's journey through the photographs taken by them under the guidance of the professional photographer Massimiliano Gatti. During the evening, Rita Pelusio and Domenico Ferrari spoke as hosts of the workshop, the Director of the CAG and some of the protagonists.
