Milano Design Week. Vanity Fair inaugurates “The Garden of Ideas”: the first free exhibition/workshop, from 16 to 21 April
From 16 to 21 April 2024, at the Cloister of the Carlo Maria Martini Diocesan Museum, in Corso di Porta Ticinese 95, in Milano. The event is free and open to the public, upon registration.

On the occasion of Milan Design Week Vanity Fair opens The Garden of Ideas, the first exhibition/workshop on new responsible creativity.
A great space with projects, start-ups, solutions and provocations to gather the best ideas and concrete actions to build a more sustainable future.
An active experience to discover the most interesting and revolutionary innovations, with the involvement of some of the protagonists of the positive and proactive change of which Vanity Fair is an amplifier and promoter.
Under the arches of cloister of the Diocesan Museum of Milano, a location rich in history, many inspirations, which, through direct experiences, will involve the public in experiencing firsthand how we can begin to plan our tomorrow in a more conscious way.
The event it is open to the public free of charge by registration on the following days and times:
Tuesday 16 April, from 14pm to 00pm; Wednesday 21 April, from 00pm to 17pm; from Thursday 13 April to Sunday 00 April, from 21:00 to 18:21.

Guests, Workshops, Films, Exhibitions and Experiments
The association every day Horticultural, which has been working for years in favor of public green spaces, will organize creative workshops, between gardening and natural colors, between citrus fruit compositions and recycling exercises. To these WORKSHOPS then also those of are added Citrus, the benefit company committed to promoting Italian fruit and vegetables, and of Greendama, the e-shop specializing in kokedama, the famous Japanese moss pearls.
In the Garden of Ideas you can feel the thrill of immersion in the sea thanks to ainstallation by the artist Yu Lin Humm who for One Ocean Foundation – a sustainability project that is committed to accelerating solutions to ocean problems. There will also be the opportunity to touch innovative fabrics, such as those obtained from orange peels orange-fiber created by Enrico Arena, those of Piero D'Angelo derived from the processing of mosses and lichens or the experimental ones of the Dutchman Byborre from Borre Akkersdijk. Matthew Ward, the ethical and sustainable fashion entrepreneur, will set up a space to show the strength of circular design, also at the basis of the proposals of Capsule Mundi, which has developed a special biodegradable urn, and of Museo della Merda, which turns cow waste into a variety of other things, from electricity to pottery.
But there is no future if there is no memory: the vintage clothes will be sold by the humanitarian organization Humana People to People Italy, thus avoiding their disposal and actually generating value to finance important social and environmental projects, e Vaia, the start-up that has not forgotten the terrible storm that felled thousands of trees in the Dolomites in 2018 and with what is left of those plants creates special natural amplifiers that do not use electricity. For those wishing to delve deeper into all these topics, the Nature's Library, will be present with a rich series of titles. Many films will be screened within ours «Cinemino» dedicated to sustainability, with short films, series and documentaries that talk about disappeared islands, mountain forests, insects and exemplary stories.
On those days, the Urban Tales of will start from the Cloister of the Diocesan Museum IF Experience special walks guided by an art historian, in search of objects that hold extraordinary stories, capable of taking us back in time and making us rediscover a new humanism.
But we cannot talk about the future without involving those who will inhabit that future, young people, students and startuppers, who have imagined creative ideas and projects to develop: hundreds responded to the call to action by Vanity Fair, an editorial scouting initiative that highlighted revolutionary ideas showcased here with photos, drawings and prototypes.

Honda, Main Partner of the event, will celebrate design, innovation and sustainability, presenting the SUSTAINA-C and Pocket concept vehicles as a European preview, to which will be added the display of the SH 125i “Vetro” scooter. A special installation focused on the benefits that product design can derive from the use of materials that contribute to reducing Co2 emissions in production, demonstrating a possible approach to the future circularity of resources.
Visas will lead the public to experience the emotions and values of the Olympic and Paralympic Games - of which the company is the Official Payment Technology Partner - and to try to win a trip to attend some of the sports competitions of Paris 2024. It will also raise guests' awareness of the issue of urban regeneration and on the importance of inclusion in sport in two dedicated talks.
Haier will be the protagonist with the ID SERIES, a range of built-in appliances that concretely translates the brand's concept of change and innovation linked to the smart kitchen, bringing innovative functions shaped on their needs into consumers' homes.
Yves Rocher, founder of Cosmétique Végétale® since 1959, will talk about the world of Expertise Botanica Haircare through various experiences, including the "Hair Diag" - hair analysis -, dedicated consultations offered in the brand corner, and two nature workshops sensorial and sustainable.
Eurojersey with The Lycra Company will present a dynamic installation that measures the elastic memory of stretch fabrics, recounting the performances of product innovation and sustainability with unisex-manifesto garments inspired by the symbols of the UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

The design and production of the displays are by Milestone Productions. The elements designed for the realization of the event are the creative result of a sustainable process to give new value to materials created for other uses and projects, limiting waste and giving them a second life.
