Milano: the “Made in Lombardia” Festival has begun, the event dedicated to young people to relaunch the world of craftsmanship.
Lombardy is a protagonist in Europe with the quality of its artisans, with the 'know how to do Lombard', one of a kind, which embodies the strength of a territory recognized internationally for its excellence. A heritage to be preserved and promoted also through new initiatives such as the Festival 'Made in Lombardia', which debuted yesterday at Milano in the square of the regional palace.
It is of 'the most important event in Italy dedicated to young artisans, desired and organized by the Lombardy Region and Unioncamere in collaboration with the startup 'Eccellenza Italiana'.
Throughout the day yesterday 26 young masters of 'know-how', coming from the various provinces of Lombardy, worked in the square showing what it means to be artisans today. A live story to describe the charm of ancient and modern crafts. The spirit of the event, aimed above all at high school students and graduates, is to enhance the figure of the craftsman among the new generations. On the main stage there were a series of inspirational speeches, workshop and interactive meetings with nationally and internationally renowned experts in the various sectors of the industry, from fashion to design, from food and wine to entertainment.
PRESIDENT FONTANA: WE SUPPORT LOMBARDY'S 'KNOW-HOW' – “Bringing the world of craftsmanship closer to young people is fundamental – underlined the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana – and I am happy to see young people enthusiastic and interested in understanding the importance of a sector and professions that have made Lombardy great. Our land is unique because here we are able to combine knowledge with know-how, creativity with dedication to work: characteristics that can only be found in Lombardy that we want to continue to support with the utmost conviction”.
COUNCILLOR GUIDESI: WE BET ON THE ENTHUSIASM OF YOUNG PEOPLE – “It is important – highlighted the regional councillor for Economic Development, Guido Guidesi – to trigger a change in approach to the world of craftsmanship, which must once again become attractive to young people, so as not to lose the enormous Lombard heritage of knowledge and ingenuity. It is necessary to enhance the many positive aspects that these professions hold and tell the success stories of great artisans who today, for example, export all over the world. As a Region we wanted to bet on young people, on their enthusiasm and on their ability to get involved; today we have yet another demonstration that, if stimulated, young people have extraordinary potential”.
“Lombardy – continued Guidesi – expresses a unique 'know-how', the result of an extraordinary work culture that has allowed our land to excel, from an economic and social point of view, in Europe and beyond. Our support for the craft sector is absolute and is expressed in measures and specific tools to support business investments, as well as in the supply chain strategy to facilitate connections between the manufacturing world, the academic and scientific world and training institutes. But it is also necessary, in fact, a change of pace in terms of mentality: working in the craft sector often means choosing a solid professional stability, having the satisfaction of doing, expressing oneself through creativity and becoming interpreters and custodians of unique traditions by innovating and renewing them”.
The challenge has begun and Lombardy is a candidate to be a protagonist in this case too, and wants to do so by relaunching craftsmanship through the strength of young people.
