Milano: A major exhibition dedicated to Bill Viola, pioneer of new media art at Palazzo Reale.
A Milano, from tomorrow, Friday February 24, an important exhibition dedicated to the artist will be open to the public Bill Viola at Royal Palace. Promoted by the Municipality of Milano-Culture, the exhibition is produced by Palazzo Reale and Arthemisia, in collaboration with the Bill Viola Studio, and traces the entire career of the artist, one of the greatest artists of our time and undisputed master of video art, through fifteen masterpieces of his experimentation with the language of video.
Inserted inside the Milano Art Week (11-16 April 2023), the widespread event coordinated by the Culture Department of the Municipality of Milano in collaboration with miart, which networks the main public institutions and private foundations of the city that deal with modern and contemporary art.
“Bill Viola's new major exhibition at Palazzo Reale represents a unique opportunity to retrace the work of one of the leading artists of contemporary times. Viola has been able to uniquely combine multimedia language with different artistic and spiritual traditions to create works that induce the visitor to stop and question himself on profound themes, ethical questions, considerations of essential necessity in the current social context" declared the councilor for Tommaso Sacchi culture.
The exhibition, curated by the artist's wife and executive director of the Bill Viola Studio, Kira Perov, presents works that cover over thirty years of work and offers visitors a inner journey made of emotions, meditations and passions, in which to contemplate profound questions explored by Viola with slow-motion images in which light, color and sound create moments of profound introspection.
