Milano: the first major exhibition dedicated to "El Greco" presented in preview at the Royal Palace.
La EL GRECO exhibition, promoted by City of Milano Culture and produced by Palazzo Reale and MondoMostre, with the patronage of the Spanish Embassy in Italy, is curated by Juan Antonio García Castro, Palma Martínez – Burgos García and Thomas Clement Salomon.
Il project exhibition presents further 40 works by the Cretan master and boasts prestigious international loans: a unique opportunity to discover the artist's work in light of the latest research on his work. There EL GRECO exhibition it is in fact the fruit of one profound and innovative historical-critical reflection, whose strengths are constituted by the careful reconsideration of the impact of Italian models in the artist's training and by the interpretation of the last Toledano period in terms of the conscious recovery of a broadly Byzantine compositional approach.

Il exhibition itinerary is divided into sections think so keep in constant focus the artist's relationship with the places in which he lived and at the same time offer visitors a precise historical-biographical reconstruction immediately. At the same time, a series of stringent comparisons with great Roman and Venetian painting will bring out the powerful theme of the labyrinth, underlining how El Greco's life was a sort of immense Bildungsroman set among the cultural capitals of the Mediterranean.
