Milano, the exhibition “Alexis Harding: 20 years 20 seconds” inaugurated at Palazzo Lombardia.
Inaugurated at Palazzo Lombardia the exhibition 'Alexis Harding: 20 years 20 seconds' which celebrates and explores the works of the English artist from the last twenty years, from his first exhibition in Milano in 2004, a city to which he returned and exhibited periodically. The exhibition includes 28 works and is the first retrospective survey of his work.
The ceremony was attended by the councilor for Territory and Green Systems of the Lombardy Region Gianluca Comazzi, the artist Alexis Harding and the curator of the exhibition Luca Tommasi.
“As the Lombardy Region – he asserted Gianluca Comazzi - we are happy to host an exhibition of this caliber. Harding is in fact an internationally recognized artist and one of the greatest exponents of contemporary process painting. This retrospective therefore has a double value. On the one hand, it highlights the special and twenty-year relationship that ties Harding to Milano and Lombardy, on the other hand, visitors are offered the opportunity to retrace the fundamental stages of the path of this great artist. A story therefore, the one created with the exhibition, which links art and territory, enhancing both".
Harding rose to prominence in the mid-90s to create a 'grunge' abstraction, abstract paintings that seemed corporeal and physical. These early works broke down traditional barriers and allowed the entry of ideas of the body, subjectivity and the world, introducing new ways of thinking and approaching abstract painting.
His works have been exhibited nationally and internationally since 1995. Harding was the winner of the 'John Moores prize for painting' in 2004 and in 2018 he won the Mac Prize at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lissone (MB), where an important personal exhibition was held in 2020.
The exhibition 'Alexis Harding: 20 years 20 seconds' will remain open until November 26th in the IsolaSet space of Palazzo Lombardia (piazza Città di Lombardia, 1 – Milano, entrance next to N2), from Monday to Saturday, from 10 am to 19 pm, with free admission.
