Milano Cortina 2026, in Piazza Scala the five Olympic rings and the Paralympic Agitos celebrate the "minus 2 years" at the winter games.
It is with the unveiling of the Five Olympic Rings and to the Paralympic Agitos in Piazza della Scala yesterday morning Milano celebrated i “minus 2 years” at the opening of XXV Winter Olympic Games. The scenographic installations depicting the symbols of the Olympics and Paralympics are in the city to remind Milanese and tourists that Milano Cortina 2026 will start in exactly 24 months: on 6 February 2026.
Presented by the skaters Valentina Marchei e Carolina Kostner, the “Spectaculars” are located in front of the entrance to the Palazzo della Ragioneria Municipale, in Piazza della Scala. The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Milano Giuseppe Sala, the President of the Foundation Milano Curtain 2026 Giovanni Malago, the CEO of the Foundation Andrea Varnier and the President of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fontana. Also present was the Municipality's Sports Councillor Martina Riva and the undersecretary with responsibility for Sport of the Lombardy Region Lara Magoni and the President of CONI Lombardy Marco Riva.
Accompanying the unveiling of the two symbols were the notes of the Italian national anthem, performed by Civic Wind Orchestra, and the song "Until dawn", official anthem of Milano Cortina 2026, performed by the students of the Conservatory of Milano. At the same time, the national flag, in the centre, and the flag of the Games were hoisted on the flagpole of Palazzo Marino Milano Cortina 2026.
To remind everyone of the importance of the path towards the 2026 Games, the communication campaign has been launched in recent days “2 years to dream”, which includes billboards and outdoor broadcasting on screens in the city of Milano, as well as a digital and social story.
The approach path to Milano Cortina 2026 also continues inside Palazzo Marino, in the Clock Room, where the Olympic flags e paralympic received a Beijing in 2022. The Hall is included in the itinerary of visiting the Municipality headquarters. And it is precisely here that every month the Sports Councilor Martina Riva welcomes boys and girls from schools and sports associations, as part of the project “Sport Generation”, launched on March 6, 2023, on the occasion of “minus 3 years” at the inauguration of Paralympics: an opportunity to tell younger citizens about the value of the Games for Milano, the legacy of the event in the city and the importance of playing sport. In 2023, around a thousand boys and girls participated.
