Milano Cortina 2026 continues its countdown: On February 6, 2024, there will be exactly two years left until the start of the XXV Olympic Winter Games. From the Cathedral of Milano up from the mountains of Cortina d'Ampezzo, passing through the high lands of Valtellina, Val Di Fiemme and Anterselva: for the first time in history, an area of ​​22 thousand square kilometers will give life to a memorable edition of the Games, taking advantage of our country's experience, passion and tradition in winter sports.

Two years after the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026, scheduled for Friday 6 February 2026 at the Meazza stadium in Milano, a week of events and initiatives kicks off across Italy to celebrate the charm and emotions of the Road to the Games.

On February 6th at 12 pm in Piazza della Scala a Milano, in front of the Palazzo della Ragioneria of the Municipality of Milano, in the presence of the Mayor Giuseppe Sala, the President of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fontana, the President of the Foundation Milano Cortina 2026 Giovanni Malagò, the CEO Andrea Varnier and the other authorities, the Spectaculars will be inaugurated: scenographic installations depicting the Olympic Circles and the Paralympic Agitos. The greatest symbols of sport will celebrate winter sports and the values ​​of Milano Cortina 2026.

Milano, together with the other Olympic territories, will also be the scene of the "2 years to dream" communication campaign which includes billboards and outdoor diffusion on screens in the city, as well as social and digital coverage: a story characterized by the enthusiasm, warmth and energy that characterize the contemporary Italian spirit. An opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of the path towards the 2026 Games.

Also on February 6th, in the evocative setting of “The Galleries” of Trento, the immersive exhibition will be inaugurated “Records”. The exhibition – which is part of the Cultural Olympics of Milano Cortina 2026 and the three-year project “Connecting links” – aims to transform the “Le Gallerie” exhibition space into a large cultural hub to reflect on the importance and meaning of the Olympics and Paralympics, and on the relationship between the Games and the territory. The exhibition, curated by the Trentino Historical Museum Foundation on behalf of the Autonomous Province of Trento, was created in collaboration with the Foundation Milano Cortina 2026 and with the support of the Olympic Museum of Lausanne.

From February 5th to 9th, Milano Cortina 2026 will enter Italian schools with the aim of inspiring new generations and involving them in the process leading up to the 2026 Winter Games. The initiative “Winter Games Week” – fruit of collaboration between the Foundation Milano Cortina 2026 and the Ministry of Education and Merit - General Directorate for students, inclusion and school orientation - will allow younger people to participate in a series of educational and
sports inspired by Olympic and Paralympic values. An opportunity to promote the educational principles of sport as a means of growth and individual and collective expression. Part of the wider GEN26 Education Programme Milano Cortina 2026, the Winter Games Week will see involved more than 220.000 students from over 700 institutions, throughout the Italian territory.

This year too we will not miss the now usual event in Sanremo where Milano Cortina 2026, for the third time from the awarding of the Games to Italy, will be a guest of the Italian Song Festival with a new and exciting Olympic and Paralympic moment.

MILAN CORTINA 2026 FOUNDATION

The objective of the Foundation Milano Cortina 2026, in agreement with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP), the Municipality of Milano and that of Cortina d'Ampezzo, the Veneto Region and the Lombardy Region, the autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano, is to plan, organize, finance and implement the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games of Milano Cortina in 2026. Established on 9 December 2019, the Foundation Milano Cortina 2026 is led by President Giovanni Malagò and CEO Andrea Varnier.
