Messina, “8 March – Messina is a woman”: the program of initiatives promoted by the municipal administration.
On the day dedicated to women, March 8, the municipal administration promoted a series of events organized by the Equal Opportunities Department with the aim of offering, as highlighted by the branch Councilor Liana Cannata, "moments of reflection and involvement of women on the day dedicated to us – underlines Cannata – with the hope that it will always be March 8th, to reiterate that true equality between men and women is that which is built day after day in all social, family and work areas. We must all work in synergy to impact the social fabric for cultural progress that protects the rights of all human beings. Without forgetting – adds the Councilor – the extraordinary and typical ability of the female genius to manage successfully and with a strong sense of solidarity situations that are as different as they are stimulating from a human and professional point of view”. The appointments will start on Wednesday 8th, at 9am, with the conference to be held in the Hall of Flags at Palazzo Zanca on "Women: past, present and future, a challenge still open", promoted by the Department of Equal Opportunities in collaboration with the Network of CUGs and CPOs of the municipal territory.
The work program includes the start with institutional greetings from the Mayor Federico Basile; followed by the message of good wishes to women from the Equality councilor of the Metropolitan City of Messina Mariella Crisafulli. Speeches will follow, moderated by the lawyer. Maria Adelaide Merendino, by Viviane De Dio and Maria Pia Zanghì for the CUG of the IRCCS Centro Neurolesi Bonino Pulejo on “The evolution of women on scientific research and hospital care”; for the CPO Bar Association the topic “Women lawyers and the gender gap” will be discussed by Cettina Miasi; Salvatore Sulfaro of the CUG of the Municipality of Messina will report on "The current conditions of female employment in Messina"; on “CPO to protect fragilities against all forms of discrimination and violence”, Rosalba Ristagno will argue for the CPO of the WTO and OME; the journalist Ernesto Francia of the CUG Metropolitan City will talk about "Female emancipation and the future, between historical taboos and social redemption" for the CPO Order of Chartered Accountants, Margherita Milazzo will talk about "The evolution of women's conditions in hilly villages" for the CUG Authority of Strait Port System, Giuliana Foti will focus on "The commitment of the Italian Port System Authorities in favor of gender equality" on "Women health promoters" will report Antonina Santisi of the CUG ASP Messina; Paola Sabella of the CUG Chamber of Commerce will discuss "The actions of the Chamber of Commerce for gender equality"; and finally Carlo Giannetto of the CUG University of Messina on "The role of women in contemporary multifunctional agriculture and in the ecological transition". In the afternoon, again on Wednesday 8th, at 17pm, the photographic exhibition "Stories of women" will be inaugurated in the Transatlantic of Palazzo Zanca, curated by Rocco Papandrea, a collection of images of women from Messina and beyond, from yesterday and today who have distinct in various areas of society. Finally, on March 8, a video will be launched on the institutional social networks of the Municipality, featuring the women who work in the Municipality and in the investee companies, as well as the female representatives of the Executive, the Municipal Council and the six Municipalities.
