Messina, "L'Estate Addosso" 2023: the third edition inaugurated with a great event at Villa Dante.

A rich event, on the evening of Wednesday 9 August, at the Villa Dante arena in Messina, officially kicked off the third edition of “SUMMER ON US – Messina for Young People”, a project promoted by the Municipality of Messina in synergy with the Messina Social City Special Agency, financed within the PON Metro, with which they were assigned social inclusion grants for 700 young people from Messina.

The Arena of the Municipal Villa hosted the opening event of the initiative, which was attended by the mayor Federico Basile; the Councillors; the General Director of the Municipality; the President of Messina Social City,  the Presidents of the other municipal subsidiaries and the representatives of the organizations and companies that will host the interns.

Among the participants, the protagonists and recipients of the project, i.e. the young beneficiaries of the social inclusion grants, who, before the start of the event, signed the internship agreements and the useful documentation to begin the inclusive path in the world of work in private and public companies that have joined the call.

During the evening, the Honorable was also present Cateno DeLuca, now mayor of Taormina, who, architect of the project launched in June 2021 during his mayoralty, could not miss the launch of “Summer on 2023”.

The event, hosted by the presenter from Messina Naomi David, after the ritual greetings from Mayor Basile and the president of Messina Social City, Valeria Asquini, continued with the presentation of the activities by the project managers, and then gave space to the reproduction of a video by the students of the Maurolico Classical High School, who interpreted the soundtrack of the television drama “Sea Outside”, moment he introduced on stage Antonio D'Aquino, one of the protagonists of the famous TV series, who thrilled the young people present. 

The presence of the actor from the drama is significant of the desire to underline the strong social and educational value of "Estate Addosso". A project born three summers ago in an experimental form and which today stands as a long-awaited moment for the young people of Messina, precisely because it has been identified as an important training opportunity for the personal and professional growth of young interns, who acquire knowledge, skills and approach the world of work in a concrete and proactive manner.

During the event the surprises did not end, on the stage of the Villa Dante Arena, in fact, there was also space for the exciting comedy of the Quick money, a Sicilian comedy duo, who became famous on social media and landed with great success on cinema screens. The duo, Annandrea Vitrano and Claudio Casisa, entertained those present with some hilarious sketches that provided moments of great fun.

Regarding the project, which was officially launched at the event in Villa Dante, the 700 beneficiaries will begin paid internships in over 60 companies in the urban area in the next few days.
