Messina, the first edition of the "Color your helmet" competition was presented at Palazzo Zanca.

The first edition of the "Colour your helmet" competition was illustrated this morning at Palazzo Zanca, during a press conference, in the presence of Councilors Massimo Finocchiaro and Liana Cannata. The meeting was attended by the organizers of the initiative, sponsored by the municipal administration, the Presidents respectively, Antonio Musicò from the Asso Sport Tridente Association and Fortunata Gatto from the Moto Club Messina; and Giuseppe Germana, road education trainer for the FMI. The project intends to promote a road safety and awareness campaign regarding the use of helmets, through a competition reserved for third-grade students of the city's middle schools for the current school year, also dedicated in memory of the creator of "Colora your helmet” Luigi Mamone President of the IMF Calabria Regional Committee. Regarding the implementation of road education projects aimed at the school population, Councilor Finocchiaro highlighted that "the Administration is always happy to welcome and share similar initiatives which see the school as the protagonist as the entity responsible for the construction of educational paths; and among these, those aimed at teaching students how to experience the road in a more careful, safe and responsible way as protagonists of traffic, both as pedestrians and as cyclists and future motorcyclists are certainly fundamental". “The idea of promoting the topic of road safety by involving students directly through the use of their imagination in coloring a helmet – added Councilor Cannata – I think is particularly attractive and at the same time capable of spreading awareness to kids the awareness that the use of helmets is a public health priority because using them saves lives". To participate in the competition, the children will have to color a helmet reproduced on a special form that will be distributed in class. President Musicò finally explained the process of the project, first proposed to the Italian Motorcyclists Federation and then approved by the Road Education Commission of the FMI, an organization which deals with road education projects in schools through its educators present in the area and therefore, to In the run-up to the end of the competition, scheduled for May 26th, a day dedicated to road safety has been planned, organized by FMI trainers and aimed at all the young people who participated in the competition. The awards ceremony will be held in the Hall of Flags, on the occasion of the Messina Vespa Village. The winner of the competition will receive as a prize a full-face helmet whose graphics will be exactly the same as the one you reproduced on the participation form; the second and third place winners will receive a full-face Cross or Jet helmet; and finally representation prizes for all the schools that participated.
