Messina: on September 29th at Villa Dante young people from all over Europe for the event “Sport in Progress”
In the context of European Week of Sport, scheduled every year by 23 30 to September, a group of 40 young people from the Youth Exchange “Sports in progress“, a project within the programme Erasmus +, coming from Croatia, North Macedonia, Slovakia, Spain, Portugal, and Italians, supported by the Messina association “The Cave“, organized a event, sponsored by Municipality of Messina, to be held Sunday September 29, from hours to 11 14, Dante's Villa, in the area adjacent to the football pitch, open to the public.
The event is aimed at raising awareness among citizens on the importance of sport in the context of daily routine, precisely during the seven days identified by the EU, to encourage an approach to physical activity, one of the main pillars to guarantee the community a healthy and active lifestyle as well as physical and mental well-being.
“A praiseworthy initiative, which fully embraces the objectives that this Administration is pursuing – stated the mayor Federico Basile – for the will and commitment to promote sport in all its forms, as a useful and fundamental tool for bringing together individuals of all generations in a unique sense of community, building resilience and promoting individual well-being and social inclusion”.
“We are certain of the event – continued the Sports Councillor Massimo Finocchiaro – it will be a moment of sharing to reiterate the importance of physical activity in our daily lives, not only to improve the quality of life in terms of prevention, but also to contribute to psychological well-being by reducing the sense of loneliness. A round of applause then, to this team of young people who, through the promotion of the project 'Sport in progress', intend to promote and implement intercultural integration to develop good practices of coexistence between people of different cultures”.
The 36 young people will contribute to the preparation of the day's program at Villa Dante, through the presentation of sports activities, supported by the association "The Cave" and the facilitator Emanuel Caristi.
The president of Messina Social City spoke about the location of the event Valeria Asquini “with great pleasure we have granted for the realization of the event – in agreement with the municipal administration – the spaces of the largest green lung of the city of Messina, where on a daily basis for our corporate mission we provide for the management and production of social services to satisfy the needs of the community and promote the social, cultural, economic and civil development of our local community”.
“We want to promote sport as a fundamental tool for education on healthy living, the diffusion of social values, the enhancement of skills and for social inclusion”, said the volunteers of the association “The Cave”, who for this very purpose have organized the youth exchange that will see the participants engaged for seven days to “create an intercultural learning space based on non-formal methods and enhance skills related to the world of sport in all its aspects”.
