“Messina Cocktail Competition”: an event dedicated to the world of cocktails

The first edition of “Messina Cocktail Competition” to be held in Piazza Duomo from June 7th to 9th was presented yesterday, Wednesday 29th Palazzo Zanca in the presence of the mayor Federico Basile and the councilor for major city events Massimo Finocchiaro, in which the member of the Board of Directors Carla Grillo took part, representing the president of ATM SpA Giuseppe Campagna.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Prefect, the vice prefect Maria Gabriella Ciriago and representatives of the police forces in order to share together the presentation of a street event characterized by entertainment initiatives and healthy fun but with the aim of conveying and spreading the culture of conscious and quality drinking.

The event, sponsored by the Municipality of Messina is organized by Shift and the Barman Club of the Strait with the entertainment partnership of Todo Modo TV, will be held in Piazza Duomo from 7 to 9 June.

At the meeting, moderated by frontman Josè Villari of Todo Modo TV, eGabriele Arcovito was present Shift administrator and the president of Club Barman of the Strait Claudio Patania, and they are Diletta La Torre attended, psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Spi (Italian psychoanalytic society) IPA (International Association of Psychoanalysis) and founding member of the psychoanalytic laboratory “Vicolo Cicala” and of “Support a Patient at a Distance”, together with the founding member of the latter and psychologist Letterio Gatto. Local bartenders then participated members of the event and partners who offered their contribution to support the initiative.

"The event we present has a particular importance - said Mayor Basile - because it does not only concern moments of play and entertainment but wants to give a message with a high social content as it is linked to a very important theme, that of the relationship between young people and alcohol, on which we must always pay the utmost attention. In fact, the slogan drink responsibly must be a driving force with respect to these events characterized by moments of leisure and entertainment, raise awareness of the art of bartenders but, above all, raise awareness that alcohol consumption must be able to manage, both by those who the barmen and venues do a job of great responsibility for those who benefit from it. I hope the participation will be broad and I hope it will also be very prepared and well sensitized. Our task therefore is also that - concluded the Mayor - of communicating respect towards the entire community, which also passes through these events in which you can have fun, but without exaggerating".

Councilor Finocchiaro he continued highlighting first of all the fruitful synergy of intent with other institutions and with all law enforcement agencies in the organizational phases of events held in the City, in order to guarantee public safety, order and protection. “In this case Messina Cocktail Competition - Finocchiaro underlined - it is not just a simple event that will certainly be unique and evocative, but the primary purpose is to promote quality drinking and responsible drinking, and for this very reason the cocktails will have a limited alcohol content. The program includes a series of initiatives but the connecting element is to raise awareness among the community about the moderate and responsible use of drinking for which we shared the event with all the institutions present".

The vice-prefect Ciriago "the event is certainly a unique and special moment that includes interconnected themes, since drinking responsibly means raising awareness, especially among young people, about road safety so that they become aware that driving under the influence of alcohol is the cause of numerous road accidents. In this respect, the Messina Transport Company is careful to guarantee the transport service in order to give young people the opportunity to return home using public transport. It is essential to launch important social messages also through events in which all institutions work in synergy for a common path”.

And on the subject of public transport, the member of the Board of Directors of ATM SpA Grillo he said “Our company has joined this unique event in our territory with great enthusiasm. The company mission has always wanted to spread the culture of sustainable and responsible mobility. In fact, there are numerous initiatives through which our president Campagna has always invited young people to use public transport, for their own safety, for the serenity of their families and more generally for the community. For this event, in Piazza Duomo we will also make available an electric bus which will act as a listening point, where it is possible to hold interviews with psychologists on board in order to convey the message: use public transport also to have fun and to stay safe ”.

The three-day program will be entirely dedicated to the world of cocktails, mixology and flair bartending.

For the occasion, a village will be set up in the square where, some of the best cocktail bars in Messina are “they will battle” to the sound of cocktails prepared following a very specific regulation which provides, among other things and as an essential rule, precisely to fully reflect the theme of the event, maintaining an alcohol content of less than 14 degrees and using at least one product closely linked to the territory.

To enrich the calendar of appointments, some too points dedicated to street food and moments of entertainment and awareness, From live music at thematic meetings, during which professionals, trade associations and authorities will intervene, aimed at raising awareness on the topic of alcohol abuse and the consequences associated with it.

It starts on Friday 7 June, with the official inauguration of the street village and the event in the presence of the organizers, partners and institutions involved. Following will be held the live show by comedian Denny Napoli from Messina, while giving 20pm space for live music by “NoWayOut". The evening ends with a DJ set with Domenico Silipigni and freestyle by “MP Eventi”.

Saturday 8th June, 17.30pm the Masterclass will be held by “Lumì – Limonata Fior di Sale” of the Villari Group, and from 20 live music with “Gli Approssimativi”, which will follow starting from 22.30pm, the DJ set of "Robi D" and the freestyle of Vertical Passion.

On the final day of Sunday 9 June, starting at 17.30pm will host the Masterclass by “Brugal”, while giving 18.30 up to 24 i will perform competitor of the third edition of the World Flair Competition, a contest of international caliber that will bring some to the shores of the Strait among the best bartenders in the world, who will compete and offer an exhilarating show on the event stage, judged by a qualified technical jury. accompanied by DJ sets.

The street village cashiers to collect tokens will be open every day of the event, starting from 17pm to midnight.
