Un Sud Innovation Summit a great success at the end of its second edition, focused on innovation and digitalisation of southern Italy, promoted by the Municipality of Messina and conceived by theMessina entrepreneur Roberto Ruggeri.
This year's edition, which saw the participation of companies of international importance and leaders in the technology sector, placed particular emphasis on theartificial intelligence, innovation in Southern Italy and smart cities, as well as confirming itself as an essential meeting point for the innovation ecosystem through the participation of innovative companies and startups, not only from Southern Italy but from all over the world. The Summit continues to consolidate itself as a platform to bring out talents in order to facilitate the economic, technological and social development of the South, where the brightest minds of the national and international technology scene gather to discuss innovation, digital and future trends.

This Summit demonstrates that our territory has the potential to be a development engine, capable of attracting and enhancing the talents and skills needed to face the challenges of the future. We want to continue working in this direction by making innovation the pillar of our growth strategy”, declared Mayor Federico Basile.
For Councillor Massimo Finocchiaro "this year's Summit demonstrates that we are on the right track in having managed to attract the attention of the most interesting minds and companies in the digitalisation and innovation panorama to Messina.generative artificial intelligence. Personally – Finocchiaro said – the most exciting part was the one dedicated to the awarding of prizes to the young startups who qualified for the Sud Innovation Champions. These are the moments in which we become aware that the world is changing thanks to the many young talents”. The Councilor for Productive Activities then underlined the importance of the role of politics in supporting education and innovation because "politics has the responsibility to trace the most correct path for future generations. We cannot afford to make the mistakes of the past. Today it is essential to invest as much as possible in education and innovation. This is my wish for the future".
The Councilor Roberto Cicala commenting on the importance of events such as the Sud Innovation Summit, he underlined that: “With this second edition, the administration is increasingly convinced to demonstrate that innovation is the main driver as well as the primary objective to pursue to design, create and promote, throughout Southern Italy, a privileged point of contact to accelerate economic growth. The award ceremony for the best startups highlights how the Sud Innovation Summit is the hub for connecting the best global technological realities with the new generations". Cicala then referred to theimportance of creating innovative processes within the Public Administration and in the context of this Administration Basile defined it as follows: “very attentive to the innovation of the PA, an objective that we intend to achieve in order to guarantee a streamlined, rapid and effective bureaucracy that must travel with the same spirit of innovation as businesses in order not to be an obstacle. It is for this reason – Cicada said – that we intend to achieve with all our strength the objective of optimizing the offer of public services essential for the growth and development that businesses require”.
